Single Turbo Internal Gated FD's

Can a single internally gated turbo work effectively on a FD ?

Obviously not talking about T28's. Stuff like GT35's.

it would really depend on how big the flapper is, i haven't really seen many internally gated turbos that are large enough for a rotary. HKS used to have their sports turbine upgrade kit for FC, that was an internally gated T4 but i've never seen one for sale otherwise.

I have one of the HKS Sports turbos, and it is a 2-flap internal wastegate, but each wg runner is only ~20mm ID, which translates to a single 28mm WG. Nowhere near enough flow to effectively control high boost on a ported motor. Plus, the design of internally gated does not optimize flow like an external gate, which contributes to them sucking. Trust me, I was dead set on going internal until I realized how poor a design it is for higher performance.
