single turbo FD as daily driver?

How many of you have a single turbo and use your car as a daily driver. If so, how far is your commute?

i feel that an rx7 is never a good daily driver. There is always a good chance of something just all the sudden going wrong on an old car (especially an rx7).

Mine is single and driven atleast twice a week. I havn't had a problem in over a year. I am tuned for and run 15lbs on a t04s. I could probably run it daily but my heavy right foot tends to suck down the gas which in turn flows the cash right out of my right *** pocket.

I fully expect to use my singled FD for a daily driver after I finishing modding it....of course that may be never.

Luckily I live about 300 yards from where I work so if I have it up in my garage I can walk there. In fact since I always take the long way to work when I am driving I can actually walk there faster - but it certainly isnt as fun, especially on rainy days or just about every day in winter.

Thats what preemptive maintence is for, having an old car isn't an excuse for having one that breaks down, even an FD.

FD can be reliable. If you want a single turbo FD as your daily driver i wouldn't go much higher than 400rwhp

I have an FD with a T88 34D Turbo I use to drive currently everyday because it's the only car I own currently, so far no problems.

I drove my single FD through 2 years of college. Just made sure I had AAA, only needed it once.

I pamper my T04S and mostly only drive it on nice days.

It sucks up a LOT of gas and I don't want it getting chipped up from rocks. If I had to, I would not worry at all that it wouldn't work 100% for me though. My old modded 87 TII was my daily driver for about 4 years and rarely had any problems and my 93 is in much better shape.

Yeah just keep the high boost runs for fun time near the house, no problem as a commuter for me though. Travel about 30-40miles each way to work. I have a beater, but I'm thinking about going back to the RX7 as my daily driver. I believe in the motto "you own it you drive it else sell it"

Soon as mine runs again I don't think I'll be able to pull myself from the drivers seat...

I've been daily driving mine lately, since the daily driver is on jackstands. Sometimes I think I can literally see the gauge needle moving to empty.

Should be giving the 7 a rest in a few days though. Well...whenever I get my procrastinating *** over to the garage and finish working on it. That baby gets 30+ miles to a gallon.

Thanks!

It's going great. Motor is in, pipes are welded, PFC is in... Just need to put a boost controller on and finish my dual pumps.. If I can find a good host I'll put up some pics.
