single with stock injectors ?

Is it a must to change your injectors to go with a single turbo setup gt40r. I'm just trying to do one mod at a time. I will later on change my injector and fuel rail and pump.

If you have the money to get a gt40 setup, save it and invest on reliability mods and your fuel system first.

You can run stock injectors with a GT40. But then you'll replacing the engine too.

Like the guys said above, first start with the fuel system. (Or a power-FC if you don't have one.), full exhaust, IC, maybe a aftermarket ignition system, then the GT40. CJ

you can keep the 550's but upgrade to 1300's at least for secondaries (i had stock 550's in the primary rail and 1680's and was good for 402 @16lbs). to be completely ready for the future you might want to go 850 primary and 1680 secondary.

If you do not add more fuel, you will be replacing your engine along with an expensive turbo. Apex seals are not very friendly to turbine wheels as they exit the exhaust...

Definately upgrade those injectors and pump. You can have your primary rail modified for 850cc's and get an aftermarket secondary rail w/ 1600cc's. That will be plenty. I have 1000cc primary/1600cc secondary and it is too much for my setup. But, I don't plan on staying with the GT40R for too long. I want bigger. I'd also rather have too much fuel available if I needed it, than to not have enough, which is what you'll have on stock injectors. I am also going to run a second fuel pump(2 Walbro's total). Have fun and let us know how it turns out.

you dont have to get an aftermarket fuel rail for 1680's. not trying to start a debate, just save him a little dough.

On your T2's you dont, but in FD land you do. People have hacked there fuel rail to fit them, but you might as well save your efforts and buy the rail that fits.

Do things right the first time or not at all..... You at minimum need a standalone, secondaries and fuel pump...

Because it's silly to spend $4000 on a single turbos setup, but try to save $500 by not upgrading injectors and rails, that's all

I'm running a gt35r with stock injectors and stock fuel rail and everything else upgraded (standalone, etc. etc.) and my engines doing great. Then again, i don't boost over 9 pounds. Afr's look good. I think if you want the kind of power that a single will give you then you will want to upgrade injectors. I personally had to get rid of my stock twins cause they were worn out from chocked up oil lines. Single turbo was more reasonable. It's my DD

I can see that argument. But 95% of the people who go single, do it for more power. If I had to replace the twins, I would have probably just bought a good set from someone, and converted them to non-seq. Just my opinion. CJ

exactly.... I can see if you were gonna go something really small for a single and run like 10 psi... but your looking to get a fairly big turbo that is absolutely pointless at around 300 rwhp....

Not necessarily pointless. New twins are what $3k, plus gasket, labor, etc. yeah, a little less but still expensive. If he just wants a simpler, more reliable setup like vkotis then it's worth it (emissions exempted). You can start out with 5lbs breaking it in. Then as he wanted to do in steps, add 1300's, then a larger fuel pump, then FPR, then 10lbs. Ovcourse unless he can't tune it himself, that is going to rack up like interest but its doable and feasable. I tuned 321rwhp@10lbs but if I were going to keep it a street only toy i'd switch to the small .85 A/R ...but unfortunately like sex, it's never enough and you MORE MoRe MoooRe (POWER)!!!

Isn't the Apexi BB trubo around 350hp? So it's not necessarily how maly lbs you want to boost but what hp and what is the main purpose of the car. I'm sure the Apexi kit is a blast on the street and yes there will be faster cars but tehre will allways be faster cars. What about 2008 & 2009 whent he Skyline GTR's and the supercharged ZO6 hit the street.

oh snap, he wants a GT40? Well I think he wants to know if it's safe to build it as he goes. Well as long as he doesn't have a manual boost controler or ont that can easily be adjusted its possible. I don't beleive he will save money since he may need to retune as parts are added over and over.

* So does he have enough self control to leave the boost low and enough patience to finish it very slowly and the skills to do it himself ...over and over and over again as he will have to.?
