signs of a failing wideband sensor?

signs of a failing wideband sensor?

didnt know where to post this... and i searched for about 30 min through unrelated junk...

My wideband says my car is going lean... 18:1 lean but it dosent feel like it is.

My sensor is mounted in the 6 o'clock and the car has been parked for 2 months or so. i know the sensor is mounted wrong and needs to be moved, soooo...

Will a failing o2 sensor read right at idle and then read off when i give it some gas? or just read wrong all the time?

well my experience with a Bosch LSH 024 Wideband, it used to read fine till warm up, then as soon as i apply throttle it will just die.... that is no signal what soever, 0.0 O2. And i was pig rich!!!!!

try a second lambda, but, from whta you say it seems like a lambda sensor

Yea I think they read lean when they start to go bad which is a good thing...

At the 6 Oclock position it will very likely accumulate liquid, and the ceramic will crack if the heater is turned on before it totally evaporates away.

Mine cracked and I was reading very high AFRs.

Also can you take the sensor out, and shake it next to your ear, if you hear a rattle, the ceramic is most likely cracked/broken and bad.

Which setup do you have? Most new/current versions use very durable sensors, and recalibrate, so in all likelihood your sensor would be fine unless the ceramic is cracked or you are actually producing high AFRs.

there was a guy a while back who noticed his a/f ratios going lean on his wideband. wound up being his fuel pump was dying. he checked his fuel pressure and bingo.

When the LM1 wideband (bosch 02 sensor) starts failing it reads more rich.
