Cool Should I go with XS T04E Single Turbo?

Finally its time for me to get rid of my twins, but I can't afford more than $3K on the turbo kit itself. Then I came across this guy, the XS T04E. It's selling for $3k but I can not find out if
- Is it a reliable kit/brand?
- Does anyone know how much HP it can put out?
- In what boost range does it perform most efficiently? I don't want it to heat up like my twins.

Here is my setup:
*PFC
*Apexi - FMIC
*Apexi - pipe and exhaust
*Apexi - intake system
*550cc x 1300cc injectors
*255 walbro fuel pump

I like to make high 300s rwhp. Do you think I can achieve that by keeping my current injectors and not exceeding %85 duty cycle?

Other recommendations are welcome regarding a single turbo that fits my needs and budget.

thanks

i hope your talking about XS engineering and not XS power double check that. but thats a great turbo for the power and lag. it is very similar to stock non. seq. twins in reference to lag. and it can easily make upwards of 400+HP tuned. jump all over it! you wont be disappointed in going single...

for your fuel you may be cutting it close, throw some 850s in your primarys and you should be okay, btw i have some 4sale 70shipped,
and for the turbo the t04e is nice but i would suggest you go with the t04s its not 2 big and still spools very well with minimal lag, and you have a better chance at high 300s low 400s to the wheels with the t04s

I have the xs t04e on my car. You have full boost by 3500 or so. The turbo runs out of breath around 18-20psi. IT is a 375-425rwhp turbo, depending on the rest of the setup. IT fits well and doesnt stick out/up like many of the larger turbos...the manifold is cast and therefore lasts longer and is quiet.

I see. Then I guess the question comes down to what would be the maximum safe boost lavel/hp on a stock engine?

Probably for stock fuel, 10psi. With fuel upgrades and an FMIC, up to 16 should be okay.

your fuel system is fine for the T04e. I run a setup very similar to yours and it was more than enough. I would recommend getting an ignition amplifier, spark plugs, and spark plug wires though, or else the car will misfire under higher boost. You'll also need to get a midpipe though, as the XS kit doesn't allow you to retain the air pump.

The XS kit is good. It will mate perfectly with your Apex'i FMIC. Go to www.rxecret7.com as they have the best prices on XS turbo kits.

yes i also had the xs engineering t04e turbo kit on my car. steve kan tuned it. its a quick spooling turbo with nice power. i had the same fuel set up as you and i was at %70 duty cycle at 10 psi. so you'll be fine. make sure the turbo is the 1.00 divided hot side.

the reason i went to a bigger turbo is becuase it was a good deal.

Thanks guys, I got the T04E installed couple of days ago, but the car is not tuned yet. So I'm going to Steve Khan.

Also I got rid of the Cat and ran a straight through pipe all the way; max flow. The FD screams now! oh boy, isn't that loud.

I will post my dyno tune when done. hoping for at least 350 rwhp.

Good luck. I think you can definately hit 350+. I hit 378whp at only 1 bar on my HKS T04E setup.

Did you have the black FD with the GTC kit at Ivan's house last week? If so, nice car.

DAMN!!!!
The stupid Turbo has issues. First off it didn't boost anymore than14 psi when steve dyno tunned it and the next day it started blowing white smoke from exsuhst on idle LOTS OF IT!
Ivan said the turbo has some shaft play and leaks oil.WHY? its only a month old. They better replace it.

Under load it pulls hard:
~ 340 rwhp @ 13.5 psi
lots of power for me.
