S5 hybrid turbo
So I've been searching for months, and nothing... Is there anyone who mods stock turbos besides BNR. I have 2 S5 turbo's sitting in my lap and I want to go hybrid. You can really feel this turbo lagging on the top end, although fullboost at 3000 is fun it just falls off past 6500 and it's on my s5 block. Does anyone know where, or have any linKs with info on hybrid s5 turbos.

Cause I'd at least like to know if they are competeing against anyone, or if they are the hybrid market. It's nice to compair before I buy. Also If I could find out how I'd rather do it myself. I'm that type of guy. I built my own engine instead of buying one just because I would rather have everything built on my car done by myself.
I'm a do it myself kinda guy too, even when it comes to doing my own research.
After a 30 second search and scanning through 6 pages 10 minutes later, I found all you'd need to know, even direct answers that I have posted in the past.

In a nut shell, you'll need the following:
Backplate (dynamic seal)
comp wheel
comp housing
(all three of the above must match one another and are dependant on which compressor you choose {personally I'd pick a T04E 57 or 60 trim).
Thrust bearing
Thrust collor/dynamic seal.
4 backplate screws (may not need these)
Clamps and bolts
Another 20 second search yielded this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-to...QQcmdZViewItem
Personally, that compressor is tiny and not worth the trouble. I'd email the seller asking for either a T04E 57 or 60 trim package and to include the main bearings and seal kit as well (for the expensive price their asking, make sure they throw in a rebuild kit), because it makes no sence to build a hybrid and not rebuild the entire turbo since it will be apart anyway.
Do a search for rebuilding, I've written of this before.
You can ask ANY Garrett turbo/parts dealer retailer for those items and may find better deals.
Next, port the snot out of the wastegate. Take it even further and port match the mani to the turbine. Even after porting the wastegate you still may see boost creep. For that search for DCEE in the single turbo forum, I gave him advice that he followed to cure his boost creep problems. If you still have creep after doing the mods he did (unlikely), search for BluetII. He has the most extreme hybrid i've seen yet.
Good luck, (the search button is a marvolous thing) ~Mike........

there is a an amazing turbo/tuning shop/warehouse up here in vancouver... not far from seattle
they can mill out your stock compressor cover to fit a 60trim wheel which will flow 300-350whp. the labor and machining will cost a LOT less than $700ish USD BNR charges

i currently have an s5 turbonetics 60trim hybrid and it pulls hard at 9psi
(only street tuned with the microtech, but making about 260-270whp)im just waiting until i get my stock primaries cleaned, or get new injectors to up the boost to 15psi which will hopefully set me around the 350-370whp mark
pm me if you're interested... the shop is called KINETIC
www.kineticmotorsport.com
hope this helped..
cheers,Dan.
