It all about your comfort with the noise level. With an open WG it can be very loud. I have run an open WG for several years, but I wear ear plugs most of the time. As for the RX7store and their manifolds fittament. It fits pretty well my only suggestions is: Put the WG on before you bolt up the manifold. Otherwise it looks great welds are solid, and the flanges are very thick.

i put mine in the 9 o clock position, looking towards the front of the car. the open wastegate is loud as hell!!! i plan on putting an extended pipe on mine to muffle it a little. but like finnicky7 said, the fitment is good, the welds are good. good craftsmanship overall, IMO

I've had both and prefer it routed back into the DP. Here is a pic that I just took last weekend of mine. It shows the new flex joint I put in the WG dump tube. The old one is laying on the bench, it kept cracking and twisting apart like a soda can so I went with the braided style.

do you have rx7store manifold? was your wastegate flenge on manifold and DP tig welded? My wastegate pipe on manifold is about 2inch short for and it is thouching the front subframe and i can not face the wastegate down to ground. Anyway I'll call rx7store first thing in the morning. I'm sure jason will take care of it.

Also, how loud is wastegate when it opens to atmosphere? I heard one years ago and it sounded like shot gun went off.

I'm thinking of routing my wastegate back into my downpipe because of the noise. I am running the rx7store manifold and my wastegate points down towards the ground.

On a side note I only drive my car about 3000miles per year due to the long winters up north in Canada so I might just live with the noise. Besides it pisses off all of the Harley Davidson **** with their open exhausts and I love it.

yeah, i have rx7store manifold. flange was tig welded. it extends to just behind the frame. the wastegate kind of touches the frame, its kind of tight. i have a 44mm wastegate and like these guys said, its loud as hell. i drive my 7 everyday and hear it everyday. to me, it gets very ******* annoying. it sounds like something is wrong with the car when it opens...lol..but at least i know its working.

Route the WG back into the downpipe, I can't count the number of customers that have come in for a motor job complaining about 'quieting down the exhaust' when the problem was the dumped WG. Hell, I run a full 4 inch exhaust, so I like some noise, but NOT that much noise

Open wastegates are a ton of fun. I love mine. Harleys are by far the most fun.
