Rebuilding Apexi RX-6

I need to know if it is possible at all to rebuild the apexi rx-6 turbo in the U.S.? I searched on this subject and the only person I found with any experience was maxcooper and all he had done was get a different clipped wheel from TEC. I need ATLEAST a new center bearing on the turbo. Is it even worth a shot? or is gonna cost me lots of $$$? I know cheapturbo.com does rebuilds for $250 on ANY turbo they said but when I called they had never handled an rx-6. What do you guys think?

This is all because I have an opportunity to buy this kit for pretty cheap. Thanks in advance.

From what I have heard, they are not re-buildable. I am surprised that turbo even went bad. They are a very strong turbo.

Conestoga Diesel, a very reputable turbo shop here in PA, they have done at least 50 plus twin turbo rebuilds plus countless Garrett units of all flavors.

They checked into it, and the bearings and seals are available for that turbo. The only problem is that they are very pricey and there is a minimum order of 100 or so, from what I can remember. You can call and talk to Joel at (717) 872-6685 if you want to verify this.

I heard it's non rebuildable so you need to get a nw turbo for like $1500-$1700.

BTW, how did you manage to mess it up? I've shot two apex seals through my turbo and it still runs strong

I didn't get a different wheel -- it was the same one trimmed down to remove the apex seal damage. TEC did the work for a reasonable cost. I called lots of places and they were the only ones who would even take a look at it.
