ask anybody with an STI if theres a performance benefit from switching the intake manifold around, they will tell you how much of a world of difference there is from just 3 feet or so of piping. I've heard that 500rpm sooner response is usually to be expected.

From this:

to this:

imagine what getting rid of 6 or 7 feet of piping will do for performance? not to mention the extra cold air the radiator gets?

what kind of power are you guys putting down? I don't know everything but it would seem if you can get 400 whp and run 11s out of a gt40 on 15lbs on stock width tires (a friend has the slips for this) upping the boost to 20 lbs or getting a slightly larger turbo and keeping boost the same would seem to be the answer. You don't need a turbo that your head will fit in to make 500hp, throw a little alky in and up the boost.

You do if you want to make 800+
stock width tires do not fully hook up until 112-115 mph.
620rwhp at 24 psi, out of fuel.

I second this. I lived in Melbourne for the past 5 (school) years and there are 10x as many gutted B16 hatches running around, thinking they are the **** because they run a 14.9 in the 1/4 mile. I just moved to West Palm Beach and can count 7 ferraris from my deck.

I just don't see the point in 600+ hp on the street (track is different, but this is in reference to street driving) in one of these cars (tho I admit it would be a ******* blast). smaller turbo/more boost just seems like a perfectly adequate way to keep the turbo from being too laggy, if you're running out of fuel with a 600+ hp setup, you should probably think about fixing that, at 600 hp I imagine an engine failure would be catastrophic

And to be completely honest I don't see the point in having only 4-500 hp!
In all seriousness though, lag is not an issue we're concerned about as its not a track/auto-x car. The car is being built for the texas mile/top speed runs and is more or less a weekend car.
The motor has all the fuel it needs where its at, we simply can't push any more until we put on the new intake manifold and additional injectors. Were running a conservative tune, and has been at 600+ for the past few years.

Just to show you what Nissan im up against so you would know why im worried about getting the big turbo to spool quickly

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyemiOzePFU

the cobrahas 650 and the 240 has a KA with a bogwarner s374 (something like that) & has 10 horses less than the cobra

that car moves out so i have no time to wait for the turbo to spool.

thsi is him vs a 1000

bring it down to second gear if you're making 600hp you should be able to take him, as he's spinning tires too.

car wont be finished till september so i got plenty of time. But for now i got Nitto555r 275-40-17

i understand the older guys telling us that 500hp is too much for the street. But when you got half of the cars down here running 10's or slower then what can you do??

That was a joke between me and Tim (Tboz). STLSR is a joke and we both know it. The only thing good about it is Bret Kepner's track section. 99% of the members own 14 second cars and slower.

There isnt much you can but choose your races wisely or stick to your terms.. Evos are deadly on the street as you know.. from 2nd gear roll i can put down 800whp dead.. From a stop on unprepped pavement you have no chance against an AWD car so just pick your races wisely.. You win some and you lose some..

One day i am going to have 3rd gen built by Crispeed and well see what the real limits are on the street with a proper setup...
