Questions regarding MSD

Hi guys.

I have an RX-7 1993 and by mistake I burned the igniter assembly (part number 18-251A), and in Ocean Mazda (Fla) they charge US $534 for the replacement.

My car has an Street Porting, TS78 Turbo kit; and I'm planning to buy the Apexi Power FC. Do I need the Igniter assembly if I'm going to install the Apexi?. Do I need the Igniter assembly if I'm going to use the MSD?.

Somewhere, I heard that if I use an MSD system, I no longer need this igniter assembly. Is this true?. And if true, what do I have to install?. How many MSDs I have to install?. What MSD model is the adequate for my car?.

Thanks for your help

Rafael Ramos

My brother is using one MSD 6a and he hooked it to the the coil that handles the two leading plugs. You keep all you stock ignition components.

I went with three to handle all the stock coils.
