question about hks manifold on n/a

Ok I am about to finish my turbo kit on my n/a and was just wondering if I could mount it upside down I know wastegate is going to be in the wrong place but I can mod that. I was thinking the oil return line would be shorter and I could just make the wastegate open freely into a 1.5" pipe pointing to the rear. Just a ques and if anyone knows why not to do this let me know please.

Well it wont it will be just a little higher than the oil pan I think it would work great with a real short return line.

shortening the return line might cause excessive foaming INSIDE the line. i would assume that you might want the turbo as high as possible in order to keep foam away from the turbo. possibly having the oil return UNDER or parallel with the return port might end up causing oil to back-up into the turbo causing smoke. . . or if foam reaches the turbo itll cause bearings to prematurely wear.

EXACTLY. you want the oil return line flange on the turbo to be HIGHER than the level of oil in the oil pan, like a foot is perfect. Nice fat return line, all the used oil can easily get sumped in the oil pan.

If you mount the manifold upside down (won't work if your using the airpump with cats), your downpipe will have to be custom made. I really don't think this will work, but then again, I have not tried it. Why do you need to do it upside down anyways? Is it becuase your using the NA LIM? Honestly, get the TII intake and port out the ports so they work with the 5th/6th on the block! I never did like the custom 2" flange idea or what your trying to do
