Pulsation Dampener issues with higher Fuel Pressure / Single !?

I ask, cause I am going to up the pressure, and have a new regulator, so the question is, with the increase and modification required to go single, is the stock FPD a good way to go !? Or does it need to get upgraded as well !?

I know there's a whole lot of argueing about if you need it or not, but I have all kinds of stuff on my FD that is possible that I don't need like the AST, and I'm not going to start removing things just because I can't see the wisom in it, I'm no fuel expert, so I leave that to them, I don't expect any of you to tell me about my field of expertise.

So, is there a better FPD !? Like a GM one ? Like the map sensor, that can handle more pressure, or is the factory one fine, up to say 100 PSi !?

BTW, I believe factory pressure @ idle is 38 psi !? and goes up a bit once WOT !? I have Stock Lines, Cosmo Pump, and plan on running 550 Pri. and 1680 Sec. if that helps...

I'm not sure if the stock fpd is good or not. I know a fpd is recomended for small displacment engines with larger injectors.

im in the same boat... i just though that you eliminate the stock FPD when you upgrade the fuel injectors???

But I'm not removing primary rail, primaries are most likely 850cc, secondaries 1680cc. With Aeromotive FPR...

so if the fpd is on the primary rail, which i'm keeping stock with the 550's...... do i need to get an aftermarket one? i have the rx7store secondary rail / 1600's and an sx fpr

Right now my set-up(in process) is a fuell cell with a Bosch in tank feeding a 1 litre surge tank w/-8 line, feed/return. From the surge, it is SX -10 filter/Aeromotive A1000/-10 to the front"Y" into two -6 to modified stock rails/-8(2) to the FPR and -8 return. injectors are 720/1680. I was told by both SX, and Aeromotive that the FPR has an FPD feature, and an additional FPD was redundant. Thoughts? Also, it seems most people w/surge tanks return to the Surge. to me this exacerbates the fuel heating problem. I am planing on returning to the cell instead. the only downside seems like you might not get the last teaspoon of fuel, other than that I see no problem. Comments? Carl

Carl,
Good point about the fuel heating. I think the point of running the return to the surge tank is to help insure the surge tank stays full under all conditions. If your in-tank pump can keep up with the in-line pump and doesn't ever get starved, return to the fuel cell would be ok. Most people use a smaller capacity in-tank pump to supply the surge tank.

I have the same setup with Aero FPR. I will go this way cause its not an autoX car. I do drags on the track and street. Since I dont care if I am on 1/2 full I would assume I wouldnt need the surge tank. And neither the Manufacturer nor the seller of the FPR and secondary setup has given instructions regarding the possible problems of not having and additional FPD.

Unless Carl can advise otherwise............?

1. The surge tank is primarily for starvation prevention while cornering. It has the added advantage of helping to scavenge evey last drop of fuel. Drag racers often build a small well, or surge tank into the rear of their stock tank to prevent fuel starvation following launch. With a 1/3 of a tank or more you won't have a problem.

2. Since the pump supplying the surge tank is not operating against any pressure even a huge main pump will never outflow the small pump which is trying to push 60-80psi.
Still would like to hear from Hedgehog...
