Question Post pics of what your exhaust ports look like

I just got my cosmo engine and took the turbo assy off to see some strange looking ports. They look like a "D" ( damn it I wish I has my dig camera ) and have edges in them. They don't look smooth like the exh ports I've seen or like this
Do the FD ports look like a "D"?

Oh yeah, I figured I'd post this question here because if you have a single turbo you had the manifold off and if that was off maybe you have some pics that you can show me

Here are some pics.

The shiny housing is a new 1993 housing that I street ported

The middle housing is a used 1993 housing that is stock

The other end housing is a 1987 turbo housing that is stock

Enjoy.

The reason behind the D shape was to aid in efficiency with the turbos.
The ports should also look like they flow towards the rear and are not straight in and out. I dunno how the flow really is but supposedly it aids in spooling the stock twins.

I used to work at a rotary shop and have seen some really odd looking port sizes on the Jap stuff from 10A's to 20B's.

If you have that RE intake manifold I'd use it as well. It's like a ported
stock manifold plus there isn't any emmission BS on it.

Maybe we could start a collection of pictures and diagrams and measurements for best levels of street ports, bridge ports, peripheral ports, exhaust ports and combinations of the kinds.

good idea... a picture is worth a million words... and easy to copy when porting an engine...

we have any cad men?
get some graphs and scale drawings and whatnot.
hmmm, hopefully we can work out a way and find people willing to donate
copyright em for RX-7 Forum or make em free to use privately but not to mass produce.
Kinda like the Linux of porting ;-)

Is this port good for aftermarket single turbos and tubular exhaust manifolds? It just looks like it's restrictive. Is it possible that they only work good with the stock turbos? I hope not... And yes I do have the cosmo intake I bought a complete engine that has everything on it, even the p/s pump and a/t starter.

thanks for the pic's wargasm!

now lets see some more!
