To Port or not to Port??

I am going single, maybe the gt35/40. My motor was rebuilt about 5k miles ago and is running great.

Should I pull the motor and have it street ported now, or wait until I put some miles on the engine with the single?

FYI:

My car has a stock motor, XS T04S, PFC and 1300 Sec and made 361RWHP @ 14 PSI

A friend of mine has a KD streetport, XS T04S, PFC and 1600Sec and made 362RWHP @14psi

Both were tuned by XS and KD Rotary....Just wait! These isnt a big difference here...

I am definitely excited to add another 80 - 100 HP, no doubt.

umm i have a different turbo, different porting, different engine management. i'm just saying if two guys one ported and one with stock engine get the same #'s almost that must mean something is up with the porting.......unless there is something wrong with the ported car who knows???? know rotary93 and the other guy

Does the lack of porting add stress to the motor at higher rpm? or just limit the amount of boost you can run? or both.

Anything that adds more power is going to cause more stress, not just on the engine but the drivetrain. So to answer your question, no it just limits air flow. Honestly in most cases the turbo is a much bigger air restriction than the ports. I personnaly have never seen a case where porting alone caused a significant HP difference especially on a turbo engine.

10% sounds more like it. Obviously, the comparison before that netted 1 rwhp difference had many variables that could have made a huge difference (tuning, fuel, air temps, etc.).

All I know is I need to close a few more deals so I can buy my turbo!!!!
