Oil line restrictor issue with XS kit

You should check the oil restrictor pill used on the oil feed line. Billy's was too small and the lack of oil caused his bearing to fail after just a few hundred miles worth of use. I can't remember what the sizes were, but a phone call to XS would get you the needed info. Bottom line, the pill needed to be about 3x bigger than originally came with the kit that Billy and I got.

Well, Chris is an XS dealer, and gave me pricing similar to Jason @ the RX7store. Jason's price is very reasonable given that everyone needs to make a little money to stay in business. I think he has it for $3200. I'm sure there are ways you can save a buck or two (I think these kits have come on sale in the FS section of the forum a time or two), but I want to make sure that the aftermarket folks get some money to stay in business and continue to support our rigs.

Installation was ~ $800, and another $300 for various parts (the K&N air filter is $60 all by itself, and you need a custom pulley which is $110, plus the custom smaller belt - some kind of Gatorback belt). Chris did some custom welding to get the wastegate to dump into the dp to reduce the 'hey look at me' noise that attracts unwanted scrying from the constabulary.

PS - Geez, Banger, come drive it first before you start spending your money....damn rain might make this Wednesday a washout, unfortunately.

I remember the day that happened. Chris had everything running great. Went to dyno and came back with a turbo that (no joke here) had 1/4" of play up and down when you moved the turbo shaft! Can you say "massive oil starvation" ?

Fortunately the problem was corrected and all is well now. Your car runs better and better each day Billy. Chris tinkers with it all the time. He puts ALOT of time into it. I think you will be happy with it when you finally get back to Sacto...

I'm using the dp that came with the turbo kit, Pettit's resonsated mp and racing cat-back. It's not that loud - the hybrid twins had a much louder and harsher note to them. The big turbo actually helps keep the noise down. My neighbors no longer complain about my starting the car and shaking the whole community.

WTF!!!! Your car is still loud! Then again, compared to before i would guess your neighbors are happy for all they can get! I think they are just jelous......

Yeah, I'm really thankful for Chris, he's an awesome guy.

I really wish that I was coming back to Sact but I'm not. I'm gonna ship the car to myself in New York when its done. Its supposed to go to the Dyno on the 13th. Hoping for 400. Either way I cant wait.

Will probably join Chris on the 13th...

Hey, Billy. I'm probably going to join Chris on the 13th as well. I'm getting ready to boost over 12 lbs and we can see what kind of numbers we get between your setup and mine.

(((((I know that an upgraded diff and those molly axles that RP sells are in my future......))))

Get a KAAZ lsd it is the best mod that I have done to my FD since my stock diff gave up on me. Also installed 4.33 gears from RB. The only problem is that I dont have the power you guys have.
I am also looking into getting a Large street port and the TO4S kit. The drivetrain I have should be able to handle almost anything I throw at it.
All I need is those RP axles.

Watch that diff.

Hey beast go ahead and get a KAAZ lsd with 4.33 gears that should be good enough to handle the power you are putting down. That is what I have on my FD. Best mod to date. All I need are those RP axles
I am also in the process of getting a Large street port and thanks to the info from you guys I might get a TO4S turbo kit.
Good luck

I got my kit about 1 1/2 years ago. I don't think I have an oil restrictor. I just have a stainless steal line over to a fitting on the turbo. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks
Chris

Probably ok, but you should check

You may have a straight AN fitted hose running without any pill. We were not sure if the oil pressure would be too high for the bearing with that setup, but if you've gone for 1.5 years with it (hopefully driving it regularly), then chances are the pressure isn't too great. You can pull your line and see if there is a restrictor inside the line - that's usually where it is located. You're probably fine.
