Out of Fuel - Anyone using 1300/1600 setup on the street?

With my current setup, 550/1600's, GT35/40, Pineapple Large Streetport, I'm seeing 100% INJ Duty cycle from 8000rpm - 9000rpm @ 17psi. Base fuel pressure is 50psi, (~45psi @ idle). AFR's 11.2 - 11.5.

Is anyone running 1200 or 1300 primaries on the street? I have a new set (1500miles on them) of 850cc's bored to 1300's that I am considering putting in as my primaries...

I have datalogit logs of a few pulls if anyone is interested.

right now i'm running 750/1600's and it seems to be fine. i'm running a sx rrfpr. i think that helps alot ! it runs very rich even at 18psi... like 10.0 -10.5 :o

this winter i am going to switch to 1680cc bosch primaries and a custom rail. i have the bosch injectors just sitting around might as well

rrfpr meaning greater than (1:1) 1psi fuel pressure per 1psi boost pressure? I'm running the standard SX FPR, 1:1.

1) I'll try to raise my base fuel pressure a few psi to which should allow me to pull from fuel numbers out of the top of the map

2) I'll look into getting an SX RRFPR if #1 isn't enough before I go > 550/1600cc.

Thanks for the suggestion!

rrfpr = rising rate fuel pressure regulator. it adds (1:1) for every extra PSI of boost. you got the standard one that just lets you set base pressure i guess ?

i verified on the dyno. i think my fuel pressure went from ~ 48 static at idle to 58 on boost. Note* that is just what i remember could be off LOL*

over the winter maybe i'll add another SX external pump too.... can't hurt

nocab72,

That is alot of fuel at 100% duty cycle, assuming your fuel pressure ups one lb per psi over the 50 psig base.

I would love to look at your datalogit .txt log, post or email.

Actually I think the STANDARD FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) raises 1psi fuel pressure for each 1psi of boost (Why else would it have a manifold pressure vaccum hose?).

The RRFPR (Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator) raises MORE than 1psi fuel pressure for each 1psi of boost and I imagine that how MUCH more than 1psi of fuel pressure it raises is adjustable.

Q: Does your RRFPR have (2) "*****" or "screws" or "allens"? 1 for base pressure, 1 for how much the Rising Rate is?

going to do some research....

Maybe it's just me...but I wouldn't be pushing anything past 85% duty with that brand new expensive Pineapple motor...that's a chance I wouldn't want to take.

Throw some 1600's in the primary! Ralph @ Excessive has 1600 top feeds for the primary, and his car even idles decent!

I'm with you man! Everything was great @15.5psi with warmer temps, but once the turbo started waking up (17psi) and it got colder (20C intake temps), I happened to look at my logs and saw 100% INJ duty cycle I was like "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"!

i have the injectors already. 13BAce had four 1680cc injectors in his car and it idled fine. i could go the cheap route which 13BAce told me about but i don't want to. i'd rather have a shiny new fuel rail

the e11 has a cool feature, its got and extra fuel map for additional injectors, so you could run
2x550, 2x850, 2x1600's

nocab72,

How are those PFC correction factors for air temp? Are your AFRs consistent with warmer air temps?

ahhh, so you are going to steal my hard work, waiting for warmer weather, checking and adjusting, then waiting for cooler weather, checking and adjusting, heheh...

I need a temperature controllable dyno enviroment located inside a 100Mph wind tunnel.

Those correction factors should be pretty good for cars that are full mods w/twins as well as most all single setups. They were developed (tweaked) on my car over the past months...

Worst case, they are safe down to 10C intake, and a bit rich when intake is > 40C.

That model number is a 1:1 RRFPR....BTW...www.jegs.com sells them (without fittings) for $129, and the RX7STORE sells them with fittings for cheaper than $179.

i thought the adjustable rrfpr only let you adjust base pressure? do they also let you change the gain?

nocab, if you **** up rob's motor is that included in his 5 yr. warranty?

Looks like SR has an adjustable RRFPR as well, up to 4:1 -- fuel:boost rate. (sounds like it is base pressure and gain adjustable)

I never really got Rob's definition of "abuse" ...

if go lean and pop an engine that is not covered under ANY warranty.

It depends on how much you paid for the one you have? Does it have 2 adjustments or one?

Keep an eye on those INJ duty cycles (if you don't have WB and a Datalogit) in the temps below 20C. Alot of tuners DON'T know much about correction factors. Ask Dave at KDR what correction factor he didn't use.

Does your FPR have just one allen adjustment on the top of the FPR? Mine has just one.

I assume the RRFPR (allowing to adjust the amount of fuel pressure raise > 1:1) requires a second adjustment screw.
