Open Wastegate/plumb into DP?

I recently installed a XS T04S kit with the HKS Wastegate.

For me, its too loud with the wategate open.

Are there any side effects of plumbing the wastegate exhaust back into the DP? Boost creep?

Let me know if any of you guys have done this or not or have an opinion on it.

Its way to loud for me!!!

Sorry don't know about plumbing the wastegate, but I did have a question for you. I have practically the identical setup that you have, but am still breaking my engine in. I was going to send my PFC off to XS and was wondering how you liked it. Did you fine tune it on dyno later or mess with the settings at all?

Thanks

Ryan

I'm gonig to plumb mine back to the downpipe when I get my new kit. IT shoudn't affect much unless you have lots of back pressure.

You should plumb it back into the downpipe.

Ed,
The link does not work! Are there pics of the wastegate plumbed back in?
Thanks
Anthony

I sent the PFC to XS for tuning. Im going to dyno tune it at KD in mid March but for now its good. I boosted up to 14psi and seems fine. I have yet gone over 6K RPMs.
I really need to have it fine tuned. Im a scaredy cat to go any further!

It's actually more advantageous to plumb the WG outlet back into the rest of the exhaust.&nbsp The WG gases actually break up the spiraling exhaust gases coming off the turbine, so the exhaust gases then exit quicker...

Try to "Y" in the pipes, as I've seen 90-degree to 90-degree pipe paths after the wastegate that is just not efficient in terms of gas flow.

on a performance set-up: i suggest running a open wastegate

on a "street" set=up: i suggest plumbing it back into the downpipe..its just obnoxiously loud running a open wastegate

just for the performance sound? lol or is there actually some advantage. Cause by RETeds reasoning its better to put it right back into the exhaust stream

for the peformance, not the sound. thats REted's opinion that plumbing it back into the downpipe is better...he's entiled to his opinion but i dont agree. plumbing it back into the downpipe screws up flow cause now you have 2 exhaust pulses/pressures (low and high)at each other..this can also adversely affect wastegate operation by putting unncessecry back pressure on top of the wasteagate

If this was my car and performance is the top priority i would have an open wastegate

Plumb it back in as far down the downpipe as possible- that'll minimize any negative effects. Corky Bell's book recommends 18" or more from the turbine outlet. I have the T04E setup and 18" probably isn't practical, but the further the better.

If you do have it done make sure and have some kind of flex section included otherwise the welds may crack from the large temperature changes it'll see.

Guys..

Here is an update...

I just plumbed the wastegate back into the exhaust.
I will never go back to having that open wastegate.
I have rock solid boost now along with the quiteness of my RB dual tip. I should have done this ages ago...

Were you having some boost control issues with your dump tube vented?
I had the XS T04E kit and piped it back in. I had to because to thing spooled up so quick that I could not drive the car without the wastegate opening up. Now I have the T04S kit but I am keeping this one vented. I can have my nice semi-quite exhaust for putting around and when I want to put my foot into it I can deal with the noise. I think backpressure is a huge issue with turbo rotaries. Even with 3" piping all the way through and no cat I am still building backpressure at WOT and 15 psi of boost.

I have open air vented wastegate on my FD and exhaust plumbed wastegate on my FC.

I don't have any issues with either platform as far as inconsistent boost. Like machinehead, I can deal with the noise. My turbo spools quickly so it tends to open up the wastegate pretty fast if I have the boost controller set to 10psi.
