NEED help! HKS wastegate problems???
Just bought a 93 single turbo with xs engineering t04s turbo with hks wastegate.
I just changed the spring on the WG and need to know how the WG functions. I know how a internal works but, have NO idea at all how a external works. It has two nipples for hoses and have no idea what goes where and what it does?
If you put the hose from the boost controller to the top of the WG, wouldn't that hold the spring and not let the WG open????
Planning to tune my car soon, so I need this baby put back in one piece!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, running the hose from the boost controller to the top of the wastegate holds the wastegate closed -- that's how the boost controller works. It has a solenoid that runs at a set duty cycle (mine runs at about 50% on high boost), which feeds pressure to the top of the wastegate, holding the valve shut until you hit a higher boost.
