my A-Spec 500R FD3S project

I guess now its time get some suggestions from you guys about project i am working on. Its not my car, but i should be doing most of work.
Engine is build (streetported) and most of shopping was done already :

- Sard radiator
- Sard 1.3bar radiator cap
- Sard low temp thermostat
- Greddy V-spec FMIC kit
- Greddy FMIC elbow
- HKS SSQV BOV
- OS Giken twinplate (TS2C) and pull/push converter
- Apexi PowerFC & Commander

On the way (according to guys at A-Spec) should be complete 500R kit, their engine mounts, tranny brace, diff brace, complete fuel system (including both new rails, 850's primaries and 1600's secondaries, 2 fuel pumps, pressure regulator and all necessary stuff), Crane Hi6.

Car will not have emissions, however owner wants to keep an A/C.

Any suggestions on install or regarding missing parts will be appreciated
I have done a lot of FC rebuilds/installs, but this will be my first FD work. Engine rebuild was not much different on the block itself, but i suppose differences will arise very soon

Thanks

Once the weather clears up here I'm planning to head to a dynojet.

As far as install tips, I didn't use their provided coolant heater hose and instead went and bought some reinforced hose and used a 90 degree elbow to route the line better. I also used the stock heater hose bracket, but had to cut it down or otherwise the hose would have been too close to the manifold. I also have a 4 inch dp which made it tighter in by the heater hose, so you might not have the problems I had.

You're also going to have to grind down a wrench (11/16th I think) in order to get in at the coolant fittings. It's a very short CHRA, so loosening/tightening the coolant and oil fittings was a major pain in the ***. Also, on the coolant return pay special attention so that the 90 degree portion is angled enough towards the comprssor backing plate and away from the turbine flange.

This link has lots of good info courtesy of crispyrx7, especially on the last page where he details some of the additional parts/accessories recommended for install.....I probably spent $400 above and beyond the cost of the kit in hoses, clamps, fittings, couplers, thermal sleeving, etc etc.

I also spent way more then the kit. I have a thread somewhere to. I would sugest make shure the motor mount has a heat shield as my eurothane mount cracked badly. You may have to reroute the A/C as I plan to do with Aeroquip parts. I didn't see boost control on your list, are you relying on the wastegate?

yes, 10psi is desired boost level and i asked for wastegate spring which will maintain it...on my GT35R i run 0,6bar on the street and its more than plenty to get killed

Adding boost controller later is not big deal...

I'm glad you mentioned that, I run poly mounts as well. Next time I am under the car, I'm going to make sure the shield is there......

^ yeah, when I can afford or maybe on the next rebuild I will go Attain solid mounts.

higgi - You can allways add the optional boost kit, as I did. Well I am running 10lbs and it's pretty fun. I don't recomend the 500R option though if that's all you intend to do. Get the 35R-T4 and the smaller .85 A/R and it will be more fun then mine. You can get away with an Exedy Hyper single instead of that heavy OS twin. Two fuel pumps are scary to me. You could consider one pump with an additional boost-a-pump.

I plan to pick up a boost-a-pump for my Apex'i BNR33 pump. I also don't plan to ever run less than 15 psi on the street, the car is just too damn fun at that level

Well, 500R was ordered and paid in December, hopefully its on the way already....no time for changes in sizes of turbo

I run OS Giken twinplate (TS2A) on my car (T3 GT35R with 1.06 A/R) and i love it, thats why i choose it for this FD as well. I will see how 2 pumps will perform, in my FC i have stock pump in tank and Bosch 044 pump externaly mounted after surge tank...

I Haven't had any problems with a-spec, thier communication with me has been top notch. I ordered my gt500r kit from them probley the first week or so in January. Got a call Friday keeping me up to date and letting me know where they were at and that it would probley be about another week and a half to two weeks and should be ready to ship.
Shoot them an email or give them a call if your wanting some info on where they are with yours they've always been great with me.

Well, i ordered and paid in full 500R kit and bunch of other stuff back in December and always had good communicating with them by email. However, i was supposed to have it shipped from them back in early January, it got moved to early February and last email from them was January 27, if its ok to ship it Monday 29 January and i answered that its ok. From then i cant get any email answer from them
I know they are reputable business, all deal seemed to going ok, but closer to the point where they should actually send it, its seems to be more shady....

Sometimes they are overwelmed with work. Email replies can be overlooked sometimes but most of the time they get to it. If it's been to long then switch to phone. They don't allways answer but if you leave a voice mail they get back to you by the next day or at least they have allways called me back the following day.

started messing with installing lines and stuff

- manifold does not fit with OMP shield (and without shield it gets too close, chances of burning plastic on OMP) => premix
- provided oil drain line is somehow too short = > modify fitting on the front cover

Somebody let the mad scientist borrow a rotating engine stand. ~$5k worth of goodies ready to tumble onto the garage floor.
