VA My Single t78 Pic's/Vid/ PFS

Good news was that Ray at PFsupercars was able to get me in on very short notice and actually did more work on my car than I expected. We had a fuel problem in the begining which he fixed. With in the first 10 minutes of tuning the car idled perfect and was not boggin down underload. We then proceded gradually up in power until we noticed that the WG was not opening. Well he fixed that problem also and got back to tuning for the final run that made us stop the tunning session. In the video attached you will see that at the end the car changes exhaust tone. Which he said most likely is a warped apex seal due to not enough oil/fuel premix. My engine builder is coming over Saturday to look over his engine do a compression test and go from there. I do have a few things that need some attention like the smoke which will most likely be a bad turbo seal

Over all I got to see what the car can be capable off. 405hp 335tq on just the WG spring not fully tuned!!! We still had so much left in this tune is not even funny. Enough with the essay.

youtube quality suck today

My car.

More news to come..........

that was off the WG. We think it has a 1bar spring right now. I need to get a 10psi spring for the next time. The dyno jet read as high as 15 when the WG opened and when back down to like 13. I defineltly have some boost creep which will need some attention.

What manifold are you running? When I had my last setup tuned I had boost creep also. Steve kan said it was likely caused by the manifold (I have a tial 46mm wg). I've done some porting in it to help increase flow to the WG, butonly time will tell ifit will work or not.

Greddy manifold. I'm going to take the WG a part and see if it is sticking.

You should. I drove 4hrs to have him tune my car. I left my house at 5am got to his shop at 9 am and was out of there by 1pm. I need to fix a few things and will be going back for some fine tuning to reach a pretty perfect tune.

Nice numbers , like you were told your not even testing the T78 at 10-17psi. it really comes alive from 20-25psi. Have you had any porting done ?

Have you driven it on the street yet ? My fist ride with my T78 I couldnt wipe the smile off my face even at 10psi

Word. I was grinning ear to ear when i put down 490 at 20psi. Now that its down, im goin full bridge bigger fuel and im gonna boost the **** outta the T78(28psi hopefully) to see what this turbo can do. I have not seen a T78/fullbridge do big boost yet. Hope to break 600rwp this time

The engine has a streetport, balanced rotors, exhaust ports done, oil mods,....ect. I'm probably going to get a different turbo when money is available.

I have not driven it yet except from the front yard to the garage Is driving me crazy.

I'm only looking for 450hp with good responds and less lag. The car is being built for drifting, autocross, and HPDE.

What is a good GT series turbo for my needs? I was thinking a GT35.

17x10 +25

Worked on the car today to see if I could find the source of my leaks. Check this out.

Turbo return hose

Reason for the blue smoke.......I think the t78 needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

if the INLET of your turbo is oily (as it appears in the pic) your engine is the cause of the smoke, and that light swirly oil film in the compressor outlet is normal, just a small amount of oil blow-by, which is normal. turbo looks fine to me.

Really....I did not think that was normal thats why i posted that picture. I'll post up some more pictures tomorrow on the manifold.

Do all turbos that have bad seals have shaft play?

b/c my turbo feels very solid. no play at all

if the turbine inlet is oily the oil is coming from BEFORE the turbo, which would be the exhaust ports...
and no, i think you can have a bad oil seal without the shaft play being that bad.

why dont you just bolt on an NA FC exhaust manifold and see if the engine is what's smoking? just loop the oil feed down to the drain in the front cover and fire that bitch up. i bet it still smokes, and i bet the turbo is fine.

And I'll bet you it's not the motor.

ok. any reasoning behind that?

simple solution is to have the turbo inspected by a turbo dealer.

Some of the cars are customer cars that are completed waiting to be picked up, the others are having work done. All of the cars are brought inside.

With t4's and bigger turbos you sometimes have to use a restrictor pill on the turbo oil inlet right? Could this be a possibility?

I built the motor. I spec'd everything and the engine has new seals, everyone of them from front to back. The engine was packed in vaseline and oil, it also had a stuck injector which loaded up the exhaust system.
