My DIY T4 Collector.

Well this mornings project was to make a collector for my manifold. Here are some pics. I am using 2" schedule 40 pipe. The pipe is heated and using a press squared up the tubing. I would cut 2 slits about 1.5" apart about 3/4" into the tubing. This would allow me to straighten the sides of the tubing and hammer then the corners into smaller radiuses. I then smashed the side with the slits in and sanded the top to a 90. This gave me the 10 degree offset in the tubes. Anyway I don't think it turned out to bad but this was my first attempt.

Should I try and anneal my welds? Wasn't sure if it might be prone to cracking through the welded areas.

Very nice, but for the full divided effect ( assuming your using a divided turbine hotside ) would it not be better use a divided T4 flange also ( like that each runner is totally seperated ) ?

Bringing in the pipes does look like the hardest part for sure.

I don't have a fully divided turbine so I didn't worry about. Maybe later on my second try I will go full divided. Of course the turbo flange only cost 10 shipped from ebay though.

Here are some more pics the coating on the elbow really messed up the tacks. I will be cleaning it up before taking another stab at it.

I always port the inside of the flanges so they have a nice bevel which smooths the transition from the runners to the turbine housing.

Well I actually have had my manifold finished for a while and already made my 3 in stainless down pipe and mid pipe with recirculated dump from my 44mm Tial. Working on my IC charge pipe now. Anyway here's the pics.

Mig on mild steel. Don't have the dough to buy a mig for what I use it for.
