More new dyno #s

I went to tuned my car last night getting ready for the NHRA finals this weekend and got some new dyno #.

below are the conditions:

temp: 75F
boost: 25-26psi
N2O: 75shot (1050psi, 1100psi, 1150psi)

w/o n2o, I made 489rwhp and 400rwtq

at 1050psi of n2o pressure, the car made 570rwhp and 490rwtq
at 1100psi of n2o pressure, the car made 589rwhp and 503rwtq
at 1150psi of n2o pressure, the car made 570rwhp and 535rwtq (at 5800rpm). the boost spike to 28psi and stared to run lean and detonate so I shut off. But the results look good, It made an extra 35-40rwhp and by looking at the chart, it would have made 620-630rwhp if I could carry it.

I think I can hit the 600rwhp before the end of this year. It's coming soon!!! I can feel it.

We'll see how my car runs this weekend. For those who lives near Pomona, Ca area, come out and watch some of the fastest pro, outlaw, quick, all motor and street class run against each other.

Seeya soon

hold up ,I didnt read correctly. You are only making 489 hp at 26 psi without NOS? That sounds a bit low for the boost level and the size turbo you have. I am not saying that you are making shitty hp and your car is slow (being number 2 in the street class noone except ari can say that ), dont get me wrong, it just seems like at 26 psi you should be making more hp than 489 off the bottle

It's more like 24psi of boost w/o n2o. The hp curve is wide and flat and I get max torque at 5.2krpm and slopes down from there. Maybe I'll post my dyno curve so you guys can see it later. w/o n2o, my car is a pig. The best I could run was 10.9@128mph w/o n2o
Also on another note, n2o increases boost level by at least 1-2psi so when i set my boost controller, i have to run a couple of **** lower. 25-26psi is w/ n2o.

You also have to remember that you lose hp when running on race gas. I think i lost 20rwhp just by switching from C12 to C16 fuel.

Steve-

What PSI is your wastegate spring? Also which boost controller do you use? How stable at that much PSI?

I was running a 7psi spring which couldn't hold boost higher than 22psi. Now I have a 11psi spring which seems to hold up very well. The boost level is very stable (+/- 1psi on entire rpm). I do get more boost if I sprayed but that's normal from what I have seen from other people's car. I'm also using the HKS EVC IV to control my boost and had the boost controller set using external wastegate and boost level set at 1.8 (25.7psi) and fine tune it with the trim **** to the boost level I want. The great thing about the HKS is that you can set the warning boost level to whatever you want so that if it hits it, it'll shut of the boost controller until it sees vacuum. Good safety device. It also has a compensation function that allows the boost controller to refine boost level as the turbo wears out and couldn't hold up the boost. (not sure if it actually works).

Either way, according to my datalog, the most I see w/ n2o is about 28psi when I sprayed and temper down to about 25-26psi at higher rpm. w/o n2o, it stays around 24-25psi range

It would be nice to see a dyno sheet or a dyno curve, not just peaks.

Thanx

Hi Steve, NICE numbers !!!! and yet you want more

Just for comparison:

With a T-70 on a Turbo II ported-motor I put down 505RWH in 3rd gear @ 1.75 kg/cm2(24.85psi) with no Nos. When I finally did it in 4th gear I only menaged 489RWH run after run!!!! back in 3rd I backed it up with 503 RWH....I realized my clutch was slipping in 4th. Atleast, I know in 4th I would pit down more then the 505 I did in 3rd......I better at least !!!!!

I'm running a HKS manifold with a 40mm HKS wastegate with 11psi spring. Boost after 18psi is very unstable, gauge dances like crazy....'til boost stabilizes @ ~22psi. I'm gonna replace the 11lb spring with a 15psi one see if it helps.

You're right !!! I used to get 1-2 more psi with a 50 shot over what I dialed in....

How come your torque varies so much ???
Are you jetted for ~1100psi of bottle pressure ???

I think 600RWH should not be a problem

GOOD LUCK !!!

I'll be there this weekend! I can't wait to see you guys run! I've only seen a few street 7's run in person but not what you guys are running. It should be exciting to say the least.....I wish my car was done but it won't be until next season....can't wait for that.

Good luck to all running this weekend!

I used to have a website but the server died and never had a chance to setup another site. As for my setup, I'll give the obvious stuff

T70 turbo
SFP manifold
turbonetics racegate
3" exhaust
street port motor w/ 3mm seals
haltech
1600cc secondaires
upgraded intank pump
NX wet kit
greddy pulley kit
Greddy front mount
Jacob's pro pack

i have more but too much to list...i think these items should give you an idea of what i have...

Hey John, you know that there's always not enough for me!!

My car for some reason can't carry the torque at high rpm. that's why i don't get high hp.

I think the reason why torque varies is because of the bottle pressure and also when at the rpm I activate the n2o switch (manual switch). On a dyno, i tried to turn it on at around 5krpm but sometimes it's hard as the rpm flies to redline. I'm currently running the 6puck clutch which seems to hold up very well. maybe you'll need a stronger clutch if it's starting to slip in your car. What boost controller are you using? I never had problems with the stability of my boost level. maybe the manifold or the wastgate plays a role in your boost fructuration?? The n2o is jetted to operate at 1100psi so anything lower than that will run rich(which i want).

Hopefully I can have enough time to fine tune the car so i can get over 600rwhp. it seems like that's the magic number I have been trying to get for awhile......

Talk to you soon,

Steve K

Steve: I'm running the HKS EVC IV for boost controller, which it never learned the boost curve on my car because boost will hit 11psi and then spike to 13-14psi @ high rpm. Therefore I run it in manual mode.

I've always ran a 6 puck clutch and just last week I dropped a new clutch with a 4 puck disc. It seems to be holding good. Just ran 103.x in the 1/8th and almost 131 mph in the 1/4 with no Nos last Sunday....Ari saw the time slip......when I congradulated him in his 1st place win.

Do you run a seperate FPR for the Nos

John

John,
I saw your times on www.nhraimport.com That's some awesome mph!!! I never used the 4 puck before but from what I heard, it's very harsh. I hope that it'll work out for you.

as for the FPR, I use the same one and have everything T together. Seems to work pretty good and I don't see any pressure drop. On my EVC, I do notice the boost spike when the EVC is turned off but at higher boost level, it seems very stable. I don't think it's an issue in my opinion. Where did you tied your EVC pick up hose to?? That can play a major role in your boost fructration.

Steve

Steve,

Actually those times were pretty crappy !!!!
qualified with a 12.07 @ 121.9 mph by throwing it in 5th instead of 3rd gear noticeble on my 1/8 mile trap speed of 90 mph !!

1st round against the AWD DSM I spun so bad he had me by .5 sec on the 1/8 ...then he beat me by ~.2 sec !! I was pissed ...my carwas also misfiring at high rpms with NGK 11.5 plugs !!!

Then I made a last trial run with stock plugs 9EQs... launched at ~4krpm and fell on my face 'till the boost came back on !!!
60ft was 2.3...1.8 mile was 103.x and 1/4 was 11.9 @ alomost 131mph.

ABout the FPR.... Since my fuel pressure goes from 42psi @0 to ~60psi under boost I've always been too rich when I hit full boost and if I lean out the jetting then I ping as soon as it starts building boost !!! And that's why I'm planning on adding a sec FPR for the Nos alone.

On my EVC IV I have the boost/vaccum signal(smaller hose) from the intake, boost only from the turbo compressor housing.

GOOD LUCK this weekend
John D

You cant hold the torque up the revs? its cause of your ports man, you have extended port without enough overlap, this is what Peter (riceracing) has been trying to tell people for a while, if you had Bridge ported secondaries, you'd be making some insane numbers

I broke my tranny during qualifying. they didn't give me any time so I was an alternate on sunday. I was able to get into 7th spot because other people didn't want to run or got disqualified. I raced against Joel (2nd gen supra that runs 9.5's on slicks) and got knocked out on the first round...

oh well, it wasnt my luck anyway. :P
