Agreed 2jz are overated, but not when it comes down to reliablility. You have to be doing something really really bad to kill a 2j.

Not an attak on you Andre but the whole 1j 2j swaps into anything with wheels is sickning to me. What happened to the whole thought process of building a car, just drop in a 1j so I can be fast too....

Back to the subject at hand

In most (not all) cases a car with the wider power band will runway from a BIG power car that runs like a light switch (remember the trade offs). The power needed to catch up is way more than the power needed to beat someone outright (hopefully you all get what Im saying)

A narrow powerband is best utilized with appropriate gearing.

Funny, I`ve seen friends at the dyno, peak out at; 531, 577, 590 hp. Then they go to the track and run 13s to mid 12s... All wheel spin with no hook.

What I saying is: (1) power to weight ratio. (2) Either you run high boost (32psi) and low rpm (6800-7000) OR low boost (17-19psi) and high rpm 9000. (3) A good driver, useable 400-450hp and can put it to the ground by hooking, to me that`s all you need.

Furthermore, rotaries are just reliable as any engine if you know what the hell you`re doing.

i really need practice, my best time has been 12.2 cuttin 1.9. Awful 60ft times, I know if i cut 1.6, i should be running 11.5-11.6. Need plenty of practice. Just want 500whp, so i can run low 11s even driving like an idiot.

mmmmm im shooting for 800whp on e85 e85 is your friend bud....no one can deny that..i dont care who you are.... chances are there are a few e85 pumps right where you live and at $2.41 or so a gallon, consume 30% more fuel for 110 or so octane rating. and the fuel burns cooler/cleaner...no need to run meth/ai, harder to get detonation....very nice

Yeah, I'd also check into ordering e85 by the drum as well.

THere are a few pumps here in AZ, but they are far as hell from me. There is a shop I can order by the drum.

They do pretty well in the 1/4. One is in the 7s on a stock 6 speed.

id like to run a standing mile in my FD - we have the maxton mile here locally but the rules to trap out over 175 are sooo crazy for modified vehicles and super political.

I was just poking fun at the fact that really high HP supras only make that power in a VERY narrow powerband...

We'll you wouldn't know what you trap without taking at least one shot out of it.

I think it would be GREAT to see some rx7s/13b's show up for full mile racing. It's the ultimate ''reliability test'' for high HP builds... not just a 9 or 10second blast. The prolonged pulls well into top gear will test the various rotory seals, AI kits, etc.. to really seperate the men from the boys..

My car only does 170 in about a mile but the road wasnt flat lol. We cant go much over 180 with the stock trans and rear though, the supras cant do 200.
