M&W Ignition, can someone recommend a good Plug Wire?
Gave up on the MSD and went with M&W.
It's the M&W Pro14-Rotary and 4 CDI Ferrite M&W Coils (Pak005).
What plug wires would you recommend?

Normally I would go by the manufacturers recommendation (M&W Recommends Magnecore). But, I have to question that.
Their manual says to use Magnecor Wires, and also says to use non resistor plugs to reduce energy loss.
I used Magnecor Wires on the dyno last month and ran into interference issues while running non resistor plugs. We fixed that problem by swapping out for some resistor plugs.
What do you guys think? Should I just ignore my previous problems and go with what they recommend?

Alright, I went ahead and ordered the MSD 121-31239 kit. It comes with both style ends so I can hopefully get it right.
Should I mount these coils so the trailing coils are on the outside, try to keep them away from each other? Sort of mount them like yours, Enzo?

I use universal stuff and make my own wires.. So buy the msd 8.5 wire, and buy the terminals seperately and make the wires..
As for mounting them mount them whichever way is good for you.. Just make sure you keep the magnets on the coils safe from vibrations... I usually use velcro underneath them.. Use the furry side..

So, you still bolt them them right? You just lay some velcro underneath first?

I have the same exact unit (M&W pro14) but with the Bosch coils. I am running MSD wires with no problems. I know M&W recommends Magnicore wires however i had a set years ago on my 1st gen and they each separated at the boot when I was change spark plugs. MSD seems to be very well made and performe well.

regardless, i agree with your general statement that msd wires are better than magnecor. just saying that your specific example isn't an apt justification. basically, what i'm saying is there's alot of sponsorship deals, exclusive licensing agreements, rules restrictions at that level of the sport, so one can't always assume that what they use is the best.

Well you can rest assured whatever is on a fuel car is not there because it's free..
It's there because it's the best...
And believe me if I had the cash i would be running a MSD Pro Mag44 on my car..

This isn't really true. I used to be on a team for GM and we HAD to run a MSD box they gave us. We fried it on a regular basis, it was nicknamed "the shitbox". We also had to run a Pechtel, because GM said so, and they already had it. It's a fine system, but not suited for drag racing.

I agree in certain situations your required to run certain systems and that's it...
In a fuel car spark is a very important aspect.. They are not gonna cut corners there...
They run insane amounts of fuel and it must get burned.. This is why they run dual mags...
It provides the absolute most spark you'll ever get...
have a look at the spark from a Pro Mag 44
