left over self adhesive backed heat barrier...
So i have this half sheet of self adhesive heat barrier left over from slapping it all over the turbo area and this may be a stupid thought, I haven't seen it ever mentioned but that's probably because no one in their right minds would do it.. however, I'm going to throw it out there:
I would have liked to have my downpipe ceramic coated in one sense or another but there were too many time constraints so now I'm stuck. How (in)effective would it be to wrap the left over sheet around the downpipe? assuming there is a good seal, would the pipe still crack? would the heat be too demanding for the little heat barrier that could? thoughts?

The problem would be that the adhesive would burn if it were in direct contact with the downpipe.
Instead just get the exhaust wrap and metallic paint and do it right. It will hold in heat much better than the ceramic coating anyway.
I did my stainless cat in the wrap and after driving it for an hour I could touch the outside of it without searing off my skin.

Will work for horsepower
Yes the adhesive is rated for 400 degrees. I built heat shealds for my intake between turbo and lim and used the insulation on the intake side it working very well to reduce air temps.
