okay lemme help you out a bit. its important none the less. sure you can ride without but how safe is that. i cant speak on the RX7 cause i have not had this problem but im sure you will want to have one. they are picky motors. go to mazda, maybe carparts.com. something like taht. i had cruised around without one on my honda. it broke and i didnt want to buy a new one. i got the ECU chipped to make it like there wasnt one in the first place(i love computers. fool them.) yes, i did not have a knock. oh well its just a honda motor. only 400.00. this is a 13b. dont mess with it. buy one

My stock knock sensor on my 3rd gen spilled its gooey guts last year. A new one was $116 or something like that from MazdaComp, probably $140 or so at the dealer.
