Just installed my XS T04E....WG question

Please bear in mind I'm single turbo ignorant, so please don't go calling me stupid here. There's only probably 3-4 single turbo cars here & none in my area. Anyway, I just finished installed my XS kit w/PFC & lit it off. Idles perfectly, except it's LOUD as hell. There's exhaust coming thru the wastegate discharge pipe. Is this supposed to be happening at idle? I plan to route the pipe to the midpipe but just using the pipe that came with the kit for now. So, is this normal because the WG pipe is to open air or is the WG stuck? Please let me know ASAP as I need the car.

Thanks guys.

That does not sound normal. The WG should remain closed until full boost is reached.

Sidestick, if you installed the wastegate without the flange with the valve seat on it, the wastegate will leak. The HKS wastegates, and most other Japanese wastegates, have the valve seat on a separate flange. You MUST use this flange.
