just got an rx6 kit CHEAP any advice

wondering if anyone on here has any advice on the rx-6 kit, I did do a search and read about the wastegate, Im wondering if there is anything else you suggest. I was going to go with the t-78 or gt35/40 but I got this at too good of a price so I need advice, thanks

Remove the turbine housing to check for damage. Mine was damaged but it looked perfect through the turbine housing exducer bore. If you find it has some damage, give TEC a call -- they were able to trim my turbine to get rid of the damage for less than $300.

If you need to move the intake, you can get some 90mm Santoprene hose from McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/) that is cheap and works well.

Whether or not you replace the wastegate right away, at least add a pop-off valve to protect the engine from wastegate failure and boost creep. Pop-off valves, for some reason are more difficult to find than BOVs but Greddy makes one for around $110. Its cheap insurance for your engine and turbo. Remember, if you blow an engine with the RX6 installed, it will cost you for a new engine and since the RX6 (and any other BB center turbo) is not rebuildable, you will be facing at least a $300 repair---if you are lucky.

Otherwise the IHI turbo is an incredibly smooth and gutsy little unit that has the engineering to outlast your car. Good luck.

You should be happy with this turbo. I haven't had any problems with my wastegate. As you can see in my sig, i'm running 1200cc injectors and use the haltech. If you are using the haltech or plan on upgrading to the haltech, shoot me a pm and I can get you some maps.

The sigs say it all. My new engine is being installed this weekend and dyno'd next week. Datalogit and APEXi Power FC data should be available by next weekend.

Good Luck

I got my secondary injectors enlarged to 1300 cc/min by RC Engineering, I'm running an upgraded fuel pump, and a PowerFC that was dyno-tuned on my car.

The A'PEXi wastegate seems to work fine on the street, but isn't up to road racing. Get a pop-off valve and see how it works for you before replacing it.

how much did you pay for your rx6 kit? i paid $3000 brand new. i order mines last week and i think the hks pop off valve will be easier to install or weld on than the greddy one. i went to hell and back trying to find something that i could weld on to my i/c piping, and that the pop off valve would screw on to.
