Ihi Rhc7?

Anyone using an IHI Rhc7 on their FC? Well, I am offered one at a reasonable price. What kinda hp's can this turbo put out? I will be running it with a stock series4 13bt with microtech and larger injectors on 1bar boost. Will the engine be able to accomodate this turbo? Pls advise.

Regards,
Seven

I use to see an FC running that turbo back in the early '90s in Japan. Not sure of the rwhp potential, but it didn't spool as quick as a To4s.

I have that turbo! It looks big physically but isn't any more powerful than many of the popular turbos on here. The exhaust housing on mine, while flowing much better then the stock turbo exhaust housing, isn't really big enough to get really big numbers out of. I can actually blow into the exhaust inlet of the IHI and get the wheel to spin and it isn't ball bearing. I'd turn blue in the face if I tried that with the stock unit. I think it spools plenty fast. It is capable of about 400 rwhp or so. Your stock engine will be fine if you tune it right. I hopw you aren't using the stock intercooler with it. Get a new one first.

Hi RotaryGod,
How is this turbo compared to the To4e?
Cause I am currently running this on my drag car, it has race seals with a mild port & 4additional injectors. So will be adapting the ihi for my drag car & the To4e into my daily driven fc. Do you think it's wiser for this swap?

Best Regards

I think it is great for a daily driven car but then again we can't be sure that we have the exact same specs between ours. I have never used a T-04E but I am quite happy with mine. If I were going for some really big horespower, I'd change turbos. I personally would think that you would want to stick with the T-04E for drag applications since you can get many more parts for it (different a/r housings, wheel upgrades, etc.). The IHI is harder to get parts for. Like I said though since I have never used the T-04E I'm not really sure how big the difference would be. I got my turbo in a trade with someone for some other parts so I didn't go out and make a choice or do research on it. Mine actually is from an aftermarket turbo kit from HKS for the MK III Supra. This should tell you right there that the exhaust housing on mine is too small but since it flows better than the stock turbo, it gives really good power. The small exhaust housing lets it spool fast too. This is why I feel it is a better turbo for daily street use over drag racing. If I were to go out and buy a turbo now, I would probably go towards the T-04 line in some way.
