I think i have a clutch problem help?

Lately ive noticed that in the last few weeks when i drive my car hard, at high RPM, it feals like the clutch is brakeing loose, it feals like the car is surging, like it wants to pull but its not grabbing all the way, and this is not from a dead stop its from a roll on, usually i feal it around the 5000 to 6000 RPM mark has anyone experianced this, the clutch is about 1 year old and its a ACT 6 puck.

Sounds like you will be joining me in a clutch replacement. I have a post requesting opinions on upgraded discs. If your ACT only lasted a year, sounds like that's one I don't want.

I think it may be part my fault, as far as it only lasting 1 year, im bad about slipping the clutch a little, its such a bitch when your in stop and go traffic, ive heard that if you slipp it, that it can cause it to glaze, and not grab as good, when i first got it it gave me a hard time because it grabbed so damn hard. now im used to it though.

I overlooked that your post stated that you had the six puck disc. Most people use that one for race only and not for street use, since it engages so abruptly. If you used that on the street for a year, my hat's off to you.

Yeah- Hard to get used to. That must have been a bitch in stop and go traffic. Don't think you would want to have a cup of coffee in the car, either.

Yeah, when i first got it i hated it, but it felt so good when it did engage. I was afraid to drive it at first, because i didnt want to stall it at a light. it didnt take that long though to get used to it but it is a bitch in stop and go. sux i feal it should have lasted longer.

I use the act 6-puck on the street as well. When I bought my FD it was already in it. It took about 5 minutes to learn how to use it. But about a month or 2 to be able to drive it perfectly in stop and go traffic. It's still a scary clutch if there's even a slight incline at a stop, especially when people get on your *ss. I love the clutch and how it grabs, but I would rather have something a little more streetable, something with a little spring to it. I don't even need to work out my left leg because its already strong enough from the clutch. I don't like the fact that it is like a toggle switch, either on or off, it makes it impossible when taking off of red lights and cars are in front of you, its like you have to let them go a little bit, or else crash into them, since you have to take off faster with more rpm. What is a good streetable clutch that can handle high HP levels?

Ive heard that the tilton clutch is easier to use but its about three times the price of the act but it is suppost to be able to hold lot of HP, i may just save up and get this one, not sure yet.

Along the lines of the Tilton clutch, the OS Giken clutches are awesome. I used to have one in a previous RX-7 I owned. Great clutch, bad price. You get what you pay for.
