How does it strengthen the housings? You take material out of your housings to create the dowel pin holes (or enlarge the present holes as some folks do).
I would imagine that it weakens the actual structual integrity of the housings alone (not assembled).
It does help fortify the overall structure of the engine due.

I was told by chris at rp that it doesnt help you from detenation, it preventd you ******* up all kinds of **** in your engine when you detenate. The average Joe rotary engine builder cant do it. I was told that the only peep's around the us that can do a good dowel pinning job is below the border of the us(not sure about this though) also if you trash a rotor when detenating then guess what, another dowel pining joby. Save yourself some money and use mazda 2mm seals, they work the best.
