I recently bought an HKS 40mm standard wastegate of ebay! There are two fittings on it, one on the side and one on top. I know they are for controlling boost but i dont know which one does what. I will not be running a boost controller on my Haltech so can i cap these or something?

 

just the hook the side one up to a good manifold vacuum source or the outlet of the compressor the top is used when using a boost control

 

you can cap off the top one and run boost off the spring. you can't control it until you get a boost controller!

I capped off the top one and hooked a MBC on the side one.

 

Don't cap the top one -- just let it vent to atmosphere. Run the intake manifold boost signal to the side port to run at the spring pressure.
