Single Turbo Forum is where this should be. HKS offers several kits with the best for FDs probably being the T04R and T51R. They are rather large though and full boost won't hit until about 4300rpm for the T04R and later for the T51R. HKS also offers T04E and S turbos but honestly XS Engineering does too and their kit is more complete and cheaper than the HKS counterparts.

It does, very little lag. The top end drops off dramatically compared to bigger turbos though. There's always going to be trade offs.

HKS is alright, the only problem is their price. Considering they basically just rebadge garett turbos and sell them for double the price. Besides that they're great turbos performance, reliability, and response.

If you are in Cali, remember that the HKS kits let you keep the airpump and may be CARB legal so you don't have to worry about emissions. That might be worth the price premium over the XS kit.

I have the HKS t04e kit that I bought used. 10 psi by 3000 and I run it at 15-16 psi occasionally. Dynoed at 310 rwhp at 12 psi running rich.

Why does it have to be HKS? Why not just get Garrett turbo? Basically that's what you purchase when you purchase an HKS turbo. I would recommend a GT4088R turbo, with a .94 a/r rear. Great response for it's size and easily capable of 500rwhp. If your absolutely sold with HKS then I guess you could go with T04R, T04Z, or a T51R KIA, the SPL is a little overkill for your 500rwhp goal.

The t04r should get you close to or above 400 rwp. Your first post said you wanted responsiveness, but you probably aren't going to see that from a really large turbo. If you're going to drop that kind of money, see if you can catch a ride from someone who has a large single set-up.

Why do you absolutely need HKS? There are much better turbos out there that cost less than anything from HKS.

Can't help you with your AC man. You don't need all HKS stuff SAVE your money for example... I have a GT40, a PTE Front Mount, Tial BOV, HKS manifold, and HKS standard wastegate. HKS is very very good but the truth is that HKS doesn't build turbo's Garrett does, so why not just save your money and get a Garrett turbo? If you have plenty of money then you should go innovative everything.

I would inquire about the A/C in a technical section.

But yeah with the turbo, sticking with one company really limits you in terms of getting the best parts available for the money.
