I should have been more descriptive... Will a HKS T04E-T60-1 manifold for a TII-S5 motor bolt to a REW-FD motor?

I have an S5 motor w/ HKS manifold and T60-1 turbo...so what your saying is that it ( manifold) will bolt to an FD motor.... right?

I have a chance to buy an FD motor that is good for cheap, but I don't want the twin turbos...

what car do you have and what are you trying to do?

You have an FD and are putting an FC manifold on it? Yes it will fit. With the turbo? Maybe yes, but probably NO.

I have a 91 TII w/ an HKS manifold and a T60-1 turbo....I now have an opportunity to buy an FD motor and want to install it in my 91....So will my current manifold bolt to the FD motor....thats what I'm doing!

the manifold will fit the engine. That's not the problem. It's fitting the manifold AND the turbo on it.

On a side note, the 13B rew is NOT a bolt in engine to the FC. You'd have a better time fitting a 13B-RE than the REW.

I've done all that engine fitment, custom motor mounts etc. in other cars before...thats not new for me.... As long as the manifold bolts up I'll make the turbo fit...no big deal...

thanks

Brad, with OBX manifolds available for 150-200, why does it matter? You can sell the HKS for what a 3rd gen mani will cost you. Carl
BTW Jim kelly in oregon is selling a couple of 3rd gen manifolds

Ohhhh cool... I just needed that basic info. I wasn't sure if it would fit, but as you say I can ditch the S% motor, HKS manifold as a whole....anyone?

The S5 motor was ported by Kevin Wyum @ ASP....

you might have to use the FC oil pan if you can get it to fit, but the FD engine would not fit unless you make custom engine mounts and yes the manifold will fit.

Ok the only reason you cannot use a FC manifold on a FD is because the body of the car is made different. The manifold from FD and FC will interchange. If you are putting a FD engine into a FC body then you will have to use the FC manifold.

With the FD motor in an FC body you can use an FD or FC manifold with no problems at all.

Ranzo and Igy:

Thanks! You obviously have done this or seen it done, but you finally answered my question.

I realize i have to make engine mounts to put an FD motor in an FC car, but that wasn't my question.... Like I've said before, I've done this swap before, but didn't know the manifold situation okay, moving on!

While on the subject, will an FD manifold work on a TII motor?

From his post, it seems like you can use either manifold on an FD engine in an FC. Doesn't say about an FC engine in an FC using an FD manifold though.

hahah basically the only reason the manifold is different is because of the differences in the bodies on the two cars. any 13b maniold will bolt up to any 13b if it is out of the car. The reason I suggest using the FC manifold in a FC is so that the front pipe and all can be used from a FC without anything needing manufactured.....the easier the better for me.

confusion....no kidding, but Ranzo cleared it up. At this point I'm not really sure if I'm going to do this. There a bit stronger motor after 20psi but they don't make anymore hp than an S5 motor. I have a stand alone ECU and I plan to use a BBK Big Bore Mustang TB and sensor rather than the cheezy Mazda TPS and TB...there just F'n garbage and my stand alone only calls for the Wide band only and it can be hard to dial in to perfection w/ 4 x 1680's....( Wold EMS ). My current S5 motor has a large single port so maybe I'll take that to the limit then use the REW some other time....I have to rebuld and port it anyway

Anyway, thanks guys

Brad
