Hks t04e

Hello to everyone. Can somebody solve me a simple question . What is the power limit of the HKS T04E with 0.64 A/R turbine and 1.06 A/R exhaust ( or 0.84 I cant remember)

I have a steet port engine with massive blitz Int , Power FC , 550 primary - 1200 secondary , 40mm external , straight through 3'' exhaust and all the rest

So far I am doing 1.25-1.35 bar of boost and I have seen between 415-430 BHP on the crank

I have also noticed that on the dyno the turbo runs out round 7K rpm

Please can someone who knows or has the same kit please help

Bear in mind that it is quite an old kit ( round 5 years since it was made ) but from day one until now the power produced is the same

the TO4E is a class of turbos. i do not know which size of TO4Es HKS used as a basis for your app. perhaps someone will post that info and we can move ahead.

from a fuel aspect:

you have 3500 CC/Min. at 90% duty cycle that's 3150.

3150 CC/Min is .8312 gallons per minute

gasoline weighs 6.35 pounds per gallon so

6.35 X .8312 is 5.283 pounds per minute.

at 11 to 1 AFR that is 5.283 X 11 or 58.122 pounds per minute of air or

841 CFM / 1.92 is 515 rotary crank SAE corrected hp// or 438 at the wheels.

let's find out the size of your specific TO4E...

check w your dyno guys to find out what type/method of correction he is using

i had a few moments before going off the net for the holiday so here you are...

you should have a 57 trim.

max air is 49 pounds...

49 X 14.471 = 709 CFM/ 1.92 = 369 rw or 434 at the crank.

is this maxed out. what I mean is i have seen round 415 @ 1.15 on the dyno and on the road I get it up to 1.35 max so say another 10BHP??

Does this mean that there is no point of raising the boost anymore ???

Should I go for the next size up which according t to the seller I can still use my monifold and external --- the GT35R?

Yes you have maxed out the TO4E. GT35r is a good choice for upgrade.

I saw consistant 119-120mph terminal speeds in my FC with a HKS T04E 57trim with the .84 turbine if thats any indication of performance for you.
2sec 60fts, no grip.
Street ports, 4x1000cc, 22psi, pump fuel and pre-comp WI.

This would be a good choice for the next step up;

http://www.turblown.net/store/index.php?productID=10

http://www.turblown.net/store/index.php?productID=65

I would also move up to 1.0 turbine a/r.

I've seen power increases all the way up to 1.8 bar with water injection.

More than enough power for the street.

howard,, can you help me with my rusty physics for the steps between the highlighted bits
- having trouble with the mass to volume translation in those steps
[ to be honest the whole conversion back to US imperial units for us metrics is hard enough ]
can you show us the missing math from pound of air per minute to SCFM?

could you run the figures for 4 x 1000 injectors? with my busted math i have 578 engine BHP

My last run was 208KPH which is 130mph with only 17psi. So yes we are close. Bear in mind I have new 275 Nitto NT05R which are in a class of their own so traction was a dream . Also my car weighs 2540 pounds full which should help

Check out some of Elliots kits...he knows what turbo you will need depending on your power needs. Looking forward to belting out over 500hp on the 13B soon.
