HKS standard wastegate....Help me anyone?

Whats up folks.
I just got my HKS Standard wastegate.
Is it supposed to come with some vacuum fittings?
Mine just has two threaded holes, one on top and one on the side.
Any info is great.

Thanks!

They don't come with the fittings. If you get them from HKS they're $10 each. I forget what thread it is, but if it's an NPT thread you can get some fittings from Pep Boys.

At first I was going to check. Then my brain crawled back into my head and told me that my wastegate is on the car and it's a pain to remove. I remember it looking like a 1/8 NPT.

You're welcome. Try just bringing the wastegate to Pep Boys or Home Depot, and just test fittings. Try starting with 1/8" NPT like Marshall said.

O.K. boys, I also have an HKS wastegate, 46mm, and 1/8th NPT will not fit. Not the same size or thread pitch. Please try again. If they are available from HKS, who would stock them? Also, can I leave them both open for now and rely on boost based on the spring rate?

You need at least the one on the side so it knows when to open. Any HKS dealer would have them. I know that http://www.paisleyautomotive.com/index.htm has them in stock. They're a little expensive, but they're close to me, and they always have alot of stuff in stock. I bought 2 for $20.

You will probably find that it will be a metric thread, probably M10, try a oil pressure switch off your mazda and i bet it screws straight in, you will have problems getting a fitting in that thread as most hydrolic shops only stock 1/8 npt,

The easiest and cheapest way is just to tap both holes and use the 1/8" npt nipple fittings. It'll be snug and these fitting are not likely to Ever come off. Yes, I've done this before.

did you just tap over the original threading?? no drilling out needed?

and i am guessing i have to take the wastegate apart to do this to keep any shavings out of there....anyone have torque specs to put it back together with?

Yeah, it's probably 1/8" BSPT - that's British Standard Pipe Thread, or metric pipe thread.

BSPT and NPT are *really* close, though - you can probably just re-tap the holes like Fred said to to.

It's SUPER easy to take the wastegate apart and re-assemble it. There's not a lot of rocket science to it - just some cast housings, a diaphragm, a valve, and a spring.

Make sure you buy a filter for the remaining open holes.
