Hks Sports Turbo Upgrade

Does anybody have any experience with the HKS SPORTS TURBO UPGRADE as depicted on the Mazdatrix site at this url http://www.mazdatrix.com/d5.htm Talking about a series four Turbo II, 1987 model>http://www.mazdatrix.com/d5.htm? Not looking for 500 hp etc, just more than the stock. I've done the downpipe etc, just want to know if there is an appreciatable gain to be made over stock and the advantages over stock.

I believe someone measured the wheel, and it came out to be a T04E with a "54 trim" wheel on it.&nbsp you can check the compressor maps from Turbonetics...&nbsp You're looking at a maximum of 350hp without dropping in efficiency.

That's the kind of answer I needed. Don't wanna conquer the world and anything less than 300 but greater than the stock turbo is fine with me.

In all honesty, those kits are expensive. You could get a 60-1 with a smaller a/r, maybe a .81 and make 350 rwhp and save a lot of cash.

60-1 on the partstrader for $700 new with these specs:
http://www.thepartstrader.com/Single...=101&C2ID=1004

List of an HKS cast manifold is around $300, but they can be had for less than that. List on a wastegate is around 350, but can be had for around 300 or so, maybe less if you're lucky.

I just don't like the "kit" approach myself. But hey, if thats what you want, go for it man. If you decide that you want to make some real power, all you have to do is change the exhaust housing on the 60-1 and you'll clear 430 to the wheels (with proper porting and tuning, of course).... just a thought.

But, the kits are made for someone, maybe you I believe that kit is designed to work with their FCON computer and FMIC kit for a total package system that you really don't have to upgrade the fuel injectors for.

The HKS kit lists on Mazdatrix for $2900. An FCON new is over $1000, and the FMIC kit can be had for around $1300... thats just over 5k... you can put together a 60-1, haltech, injectors and custom fmic for about 1/2 - 2/3 of that... just some food for thought.

Jason sells the HKS manifold for $25X.00 and make sure that its a true 60-1 turbo, alot of people are getting the toe4 with .60 compressor housing confused with a "60-1".
