HKS log manifold....will it work in a fd engine bay

Hello All, I am Glen The owner of Azrotaryrockets and the engine builder there. I have a HKS log manilfold I wanted to run for now before I have an employee make one. I was wanting to find out with out mocking up an engine and slapping it in the FD if this manilfold will work in a third gen engine bay. Anyone know??

The 2nd gen will not fit into the 3rd gen as it will hit on the frame rail and inner fender. A buddy of mine is running the HKS log for the third gen on a motor we just built. Spool is about 4000 on A .96 undivided.

Sorry to hijack.

A buddy and I have been contemplating this. He loosely test fit them and said it looks like either the S4 or S5 turbo manifold should clear. The S4 manifold dips down a little lower than he'd like and might_rub the subframe/motor mount but the whole engine would have to move 1" side to side for that to happen and with non-fubared motor mounts, that shouldn't be an issue.

Do you know if anyone has pushed further on the possibility?

Are you talking s4 s5 stock manifolds?? I think there is only one HKS log manifold for the second gen. Well at this point I think I will mock up an engine and turbo set up before I go any further.

If I dont use this it will go up for sale in the classified section.

I have an adapter for the tial 46mm, going to be running a t61 garrett custom turbo with no more than 16 psi. This is my personal car, I will save the high hp for the shop car.

Thanks again.

I'm Rotary Inspired's friend with the HKS Cast Manifold on my FD. We made an aluminum adapter to bolt the Tial 46mm Wastegate to, that bolts to the HKS Log Manifold's flange for the old style 50mm HKS wastegate. Took a little while to make, but works like a champ! I don't have any un-installed pics, but I have one of it installed if anyone needs an idea of what we did.

Picture is installed, so you can't really see it, but I'll describe it a bit too...

The adapter is 1" thick and has 9 holes. 1 big one in the middle for the exhaust that is ~1.75", 4 that match up to the HKS Flange that are countersunk on one side (side a), so the fasteners don't stick out and interfere with the wastegate, and 4 that match up to the Tial 46mm Wastegate countersunk on the other side (side b), so the adapter sits flush against the HKS flange. We used Socket Head Cap Screws, 6mm allen wrench to tighten them, on both sides, and with very little grinding on the wastegate, I was able to torque all the fasteners down and its not loosening at all. The fasteners that hold the wastegate can only back out until they hit the manifolds flange, and the ones holding the adapter to the flange can only back out so far before hitting the wastegate.
If you want a better explanation, I could fire up photoshop and make a diagram in about 5 minutes, heh.

In case anyone wanted to know why the manifold is oily, refer to this video of one of the first starts: Right Click, Save as.

I've done something similar for a couple Tial 44mm gates. Used flate steel stock, drilled the holes to mount it to the HKS manifold then welded the v-band to the plate. Not hard at all.
