HELP. Wastegate stuck open 1/8 inch

I just installed my new turbo. I'm using the HKS racing wastegate. As far as I can see it has no adjustment for the tension. It's stuck open about 1/8 inch. any ideas why? I know it has nothing to do with the way the hoses are hooked up

Just pop off the top and move the valve manually to see if it sticks anywhere.

Do you have it installed correctly? The valve should seat againt the, um, valve seat, which is the bottom flange-bracket looking thing in the picture you posted. In the picture, you would pick up the wastegate and set it down on the seat as it is shown there. It will appear like the valve is open without the valve seat.

Listing the items starting from the top in the picture:
1. dump tube gasket
2. dump tube flange
3. gasket
4. flange
5. valve seat

The connection to the manifold goes like this:
flange 4 welded to manifold
gasket 3
valve seat 5
wastegate (bottom)

The dump tube connection goes like this:
flange 2 welded to dump tube
gasket 1
wastegate (side)

Also, that is the HKS "Stainless Steel Racing" wastegate in the picture. The Racing wastegate is different.

Thanks SOOOOO much!. You hit the nail on the head. This is the first install I did of an external wastegate, and there were no instructions in the box, I left that valve seat piece out. I put it in this morning and it's all good now
