Help me size a turbo for a 6-port engine!

Hi guys,

I've done a lot of lurking and reading in this section and still can't quite get it together when it comes to sizing a turbo for what I want.

I recently sold my TII and I have funds now to make my S5 N/A(9.7-1 Rotors) 6-port Turbo project happen.

The engine is a reman with stock ports and 16K miles and I'm putting the car together for drifting as it's the cheapest thing for me to get into right now besides autocross. I have money in the bank and I don't want to cheap out on my turbo setup as it will be something I can keep for another car or resell at a depreciated cost if I ever need to part out.

My goal is 350WHP and quick spool. I know it's possible because frostycrowd was putting out 400.6WHP with his tock S5 N/A block with E85.

I don't need schooling on keeping it cool(engine, oil, and IAT's) or about my N/A Drivetrain. I know the risks I'll be taking and I want to try to do a V-mount setup for cooling.

Right now I found a deal on a Borg Warner S362 with a 1.15 A/R divided exhaust. I know it's capable of of big power, which isn't necessarily what I want. I was attracted to it because of the large ehxaust side because I've read it will help keep me from killing my 6-port engine.

Do you guys think it's too big for what I want, I'm guessing I'd hit 350WHP between 11.5-13 PSI. I know it's capable of around 26PSI, but if it will spool quickly I'd be fine with it over a smaller turbo.

Also if any of you know, what's the exhaust flow on the S5 N/A stock?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my ignorance.

I'm a big fan of the t04r,s,e turbos with the 67mm wheel and p-trim turbine wheel. If not one of those the bw s360-s362 are awesome turbos too.

I've ran my high comp motor for the last few years with a t04r and recently went with a newer bw turbo.

What about the exhaust housing? 1.15 too big? .84 too small?

Alright, well I've found a BW S366 with a .91 Exhaust A/R locally I'm going with.
Parts I have:
New Microtech LT10s w/ X4 and wiring loom
S5 TII TB, UIM, LIM,
New fuel rails with High Imp 850cc/1600cc
BW S366 .91 exh. A/R
Custom turbo manifold with large WG outlet(P.O. was running 50MM)
TB inlet
SS braided oil drain line
Turbo oil pump
Pineapple baffled oil pan
Walbro 255 LPH pump
Sard FPR
Afco Dual Pass rad, several E-fans (V6 Taurus, Flex a lite Black Magic)
EGT, Fuel Pressure, Boost Gauge
Oil Catch can
Spare TII drivetrain, I'm going the run my N/A with Miata Gears and 4.30 LSD for a while(I'm not planning on drag racing).

I still need to fab up a downpipe, get a WG, get water temp and oil temp/pressure guages, buy an intercooler and figure out a setup. I want to try to get a water-meth kit too, to cool down IAT's

My ideal situation would be to fab up a V-mount, if I can't right away how do you guys feel about FMIC's on the FC. I've seen it frowned upon by some, and aceepted by others depending on blockage and superheating effects.

Also, does it looks like I'm missing anything? I know the injectors are a little large, but I'm saving money getting a package deal.

You need another walbro or a better pump to be on the safe side.

I'm not going to be using the injectors at max duty cycle. I'm going to be running a conservative tune somewhere between 350-400 whp. Do you think I'll be able to get the car tuned before upgrading pumps?

I'll do the fuel calc and see what I can do to meet the max injector requirment.

Get a 044 and have the walbro's pump to that then from the 044 to the rails. I can tell you from first hand exp that one walbro's won't be enough for that. Better to be safe than sry.

What about just an Aeromotive 340lph in tank pump?
I need 294lph for my injectors at 100%, would I still be better with a walbro as a lift and 044 as a pump than just a 340lph in the tank?

I'll be running new power to it.

on my personal car, I have a denso supra pump in tank feeding into my surge tank then from there I have two 044's pumping to the motor.

Imho walbro's are pure garbage! Never had good luck with them at all. Fail within months of use. The new 340lph pumps are too new to really tellif they are going to be worth a damn. I like to stick to factory branded pumps because they have been tried and trued over the years and have excellant reps. This is a life or death item for your engine so do it right the first time!!!
