you are going to need more than 3K for a complete single turbo conversion from stock, let alone a fresh motor if yours is tired...you have to think..turbo kit, fuel system, clutch, management, etc...

you are going to need much more than 3k. even if you bought everything used you would need a lot more than 3k.

but if you gather more money up i REALLY like my setup. very reliable and streetable with plenty of power. see sig for details

You have just enough money to get the turbo kit and store it in your closet. But it's a start.

take the $3k and put it aside untill you have around $10k and then go single, it will be much easier.

Start with a boost gauge, then Down pipe, and maybe intake. Get a power-FC, throw a cat back, intercooler, and mid pipe/high flow cat on the car and have some serious fun. Around the time of the IC, I'd start investing in a upgraded pump (bosch 044 imop) and some larger injectors. Should make 300-330rwhp and be fun. Just get it tuned by someone who knows how to tune a 7. At that point, you can decide what way you want to go with your car. CJ

honestly if your just fed up with the sequential system either get a smaller kit like a rx6 or 35r, upgrade your stock injectors ie 1300, and get a powerfc. Keep the boost limited so there is no needs for a ignition ampilifier to help lower your cost. Just an idea.

If you have a tight budget but want gd hp gains, then id suggest you run with highflowed twins like BNR or similer and a remaped ecu with upgraded primary injectors and an intank walbro.
That will be a buget combo with gd power gains and probably leave you with enough loose change for a clutch upgrade.

I had BNR stage 2's that was the biggest waste of money i have ever spent on my Rx7. No real power gains worthe the money and the seals went bad and made my car smoke so bad after about five months. the way i see it pay for what you realy want the first time because you will always end up buying it after the stupid part you setteled for in the fisrt place.

I guess you rite about buying what you really want the first time instead of compromising for something less. But Im surprised you had grief with the bnr's.

Everytime I drive my FD, I'm just waiting for the motor to pop. It has 50k miles on the stock motor. I know its getting tired, as it takes more boost to make the power I did a couple years ago...even with putting on larger exhaust, (From 3" to 3.5") different LIM, straighter IC piping etc. Back in the day, it made 407rwhp@16lbs, now its only making 360rwhp@15lbs. Bolth times dyno'd it was on a the same mustang dyno. I don't drive the car much, but its still alot of fun. CJ

You oughta get that thing out of there before it goes catastrophicly and takes out your turbo with it.

Well, unless it goes it won't be rebuilt. Thats the way wifes work. It still drives...so everything must be allright. Well, thats the way it she thinks. I've thought about pulling the map sensor off, and telling her it let go....but then I'd feel guilty.

I'm not worried about it. When it does go, I'm going to go with a BB T-66 I think, and big street port engine. I'm good friends with Rob at Pineapple Racing, and he can throw something together for me.

I think your wife is rite, you may have years of life left in it. Id fit that turbo now if i were you instead of waiting for the engine.

I was thinking about this and if you have fabrication skill and the ability to do your own work it might be possible to take a stock FD to a single for 3k. Granted most items are used and at the best prices you can find but I think it can be done. You won't have the best product available, but you would have a setup for 350-375 hp and be single.

PFC (used) 500
1300cc Injectors (used) 150
Walbro (new) 100
Catback (used) 200
Rad Koyo (used) 200
Manifold (SSAFC) 100
IC (XS Power) 150
BOV (used) 75
T04E 57 or 60 (used) 200
Downpipe/Mid Material 200
Airfilter 30
Boost Gauge 50
Datalogit 300
WBo2 LC-1 200
Tuning (yourself) Free
Fab/Welding (yourself) Free
BOP's 50
AST (removal) 50
Clutch (used) 200
WG 40mm HKS (used) 150
Oil Feed/Return 100
Total 3005

Sell
Turbos/Manifold 200
Solenoids ???
Y-Pipe ???
850cc Injectors ???

End Total >2805
