OK, I've owned my FD for just about a year and never driven it. It was in a pretty bad accident and the motor was toast too. There was only one bolt holding the motor in and the flywheel was magically gone... so was the ECU, but that's another story. There is tabs on the twisted steel where I would guess a good sized FMIC was installed. I also found a GReddy single turbo manifold inside. It had some cracks so I'm having it welded back up.

Cutting to the chase...
I want something that will be streetable and spool quickly. I don't want to skimp out on quality that's why I want to go with a GT**R turbo. The problem is I can't figure what kind of A/R I should be looking for. I've been reading the maps and comparing dyno graphs, but it's inconclusive. I have narrowed it down to either a GT35R or a GT3540R. The motor is going to be from a JDM front clip. It will be dead stock. I plan on doing a mild port this fall or winter, so nothing radical in the near future. I'll likely be getting a Power FC and other supporting mods. I'd like to make in the 325-350 whp area without the port.

You should look into A-spec's GT35RS aka 500R it sounds like what your looking for.

Um, I think 325-350hp may be a lil below what a GT35R or GT3540 will produce.

yea you really can't go wrong with the gt35r, its worked well on every application i've seen it used on

 

35/40=35R it is the same thing. I would run the 35RT4 with the 1.0 housing that would offer you decent response with good top end as well. The larger 1.06 will be a little much on stock ports. The .84 will be too small for you on a ported block. The 500R is nice but if your goal is 350-400 it is more than is needed as it wont really come into it's own until higher power/boost levels. However it does leave you room to grow.

 

I'm with these guys. I haven't heard a bad thing about the GT35R. After I relocate to SoCal in August I'm going for a GT35R with a 1.06.

 

Thanks for the info. I'll have to do some research on that GT35RT4 (I assume it's a GT35R w/ a T4 turbine housing).

 

Go to the A-Spec sub forum. That would be the best place to gain the info you're looking for. And I'll add to the list of people that are saying you can't go wrong with the 35R. It's a great turbo and the price really isn't bad at all. Just my .02
