Angry hav i been shafted?

i just bought a t78,fully rebuilt but there seems to be a fair bit of movement on the shaft,if you place the unit on the bench looking down into the housing and rock the shaft back and forth holding it by the wheel retainig nut,it moves bout 1-1.5mm but no movement if you pull the shaft longtitudinally.called the previous owner he said this is ok bcause the unit has just been built and it needs to be run to allow oil to take up the slack,is this right or have i been shafted!! yours from sunny(not)England u.k

Sounds good to me. In and Out play is bad. Side to side play is normal as long as the blade does not make contact with the housing.

You're fine, it's only doing it because there's no oil in it.
