GT35r Kit wich one to buy

Want to put a GT35r turbo on a FD but don't know witch kit would be the best ( A-spec, rx-7store, ... ECT). I don't want to cheep out on it but I don't want to be wasting money so i was hopping to get some feed back from some people that have used a few different kits. I am more interested in quality (good stainless?) and placement of the exhaust manifold, Down pipe (fit and finish) , lines, and all the extras. because the turbo, waist gate should be the same.

Dose any one have a Idea witch kit is the best for the money.
Thank you for your help in advance

I have a rx7store kit. Its excellent quality and fit. Any kit you buy from a reputable shop will be excellent.

Thats what you would think...
A-Spec 35RT4 exhaust housing on the left, "reputable shop" 35R fake T4 exhaust housing on the right. They are both supposedly the same A/R..

You get what you pay for. Need I say more?

thank you that is a bit of a shock to see the turbo being the week link i would hope that they wouldn't lie about the main part but that is the main cost. I know this will cause a finger pointing mach but could you say where the other housing came from, so no one waists their mony on a cheep (not mooney wise ) kit.

A-Spec A+++++. I don't personally have any of their stuff, but have seen their handy work first hand and they pioneered the T4 GT35R were the early t4 versions from other vendors were simply T3 tubines with T4 flanges (like the pic).

So whats your point?

Our kits use the T4 footprint with a T3 housing. I get the turbos for our kits thru ATP and we offer our kits for people on a budget. They usually fit better and perform the same as the more expensive kits. I have sold a ton of these kits and havent had any complaints.
If your looking at a true T4 GT35R then I would go with the T04Z. Gonna give the same power and still cheaper.

Does anyone have a side by side comparison of the fake t4 housing in a 1.0 A/R next to a real T4 in a .84 A/R? just curious how they look.

And to RX7-stores defence I had one of their kits, and it did perform very well (t04R) now I will be using a 3574 from a-spec and we will see how they compare.

No pissing matches it is lame, It's simple, you want quickest spool and flat top end. 315,330whp on most cars with a few hit hitting 380ish to just over 400. Take the housing on the right. It is excellent for bottom end and autocross. You want a bit more (380-420) but still want pretty close to the same response? Run the divided housing on the left. You want a great all around performer. Run the 35R T4 1.0 430's@15psi and you'll see that as early as 3300rpm on properly set up cars. Looking for more without running out of breath at 20psi+ Run the 500R it will put out the same numbers as the TO4Z in all but a few instances but have better response in just about every instance. Don't mind a bit of loss in response, but want better breathing on a halfbridge or such, run the TO4Z or run the larger turbine housing on the 500R. Each one has it's place none is better or worse than the other. Find out where you will be running the car. Size the turbo accordingly then find out who meets your budget. Each shop has reasons for their pricing. Most of those reasons are sound.

Thank you Zero R. It is obvious that you have dealt with this many times and the area/performance that I am looking for is the divided housing set up. Is the only way to really know witch one I am buying is to ask each shop because the label is really just gt35r on most kits not going into much detail. May be a/r ratios but that is it.

I have had good experiences with all the shops mentioned here. Bought my GT35R from a-spec. All the manifold/downpipe/wastegate and water/oil line work was done by Elliot A.K.A 1revvin7 (turblown). In fact, about 3 pictures in his gallery are the kit he made for me. And I buy most of my misc. parts from rx7store.net. Never had a customer service problem with them. They had forgotten a BOV in one of my orders. I called about 5 months after the package arrived(i was in Iraq) and they sent it out to me without question.

A-spec, have you guys corrected the issues with your long runner manifold? Like having the turbo hitting the fender and the turbo being so in front it is impossible to install an air filter? Also, the fact that it melts the OMP?

Also, i am pretty sure i received a kit once from you guys and it looked like the housing on the right, it was sold to the customer as being a T3. I suppose it was a T3 housing with a T4 footprint, is that what i hear? That was a 3574 without BB. Cause i also received a kit with BB and the housing looked like the one on the left.

if anything the housing on the right should be sold as a t3 with a t4 flange. To just call it a t4 is deceptive, i would not buy anything from a shop that did such things and a.spec is not one of those shops.
