GT35R Help (searched)

Well I did a search and really didn't find anything too conclusive. I'm set on getting the 35R I'm Looking for around 400whp with the ability to expand a little. The compressor housing is a T04 4in front housing, .70 A/R, 56 trim. The turbine has 2 choices. Thats where i need the help. I'm definately getting the divided T04 Flange. My only question is what A/R should I go with? I have a choice between a .82 or a 1.06, What do you guys recomend? I'm figuring the 1.06 but will that be too big and affect the spool up? I know it will give me better top end, just looking for a little more experiece to help me out here.
Thanks

The 35R only comes in T3 and trust me the .82 is too small, to allow room to grow without running pretty high boost

I am positive 35R is T3 only, you do know a 35R is a 35/40 right?

I spoke with my shop again, and He's going through his distributor. Its not straight from garrett. Yes i do know its a 35/40 and I've seen the catalog before. My shop's distributor is actually going to build it. He's the only one in wisconsin that is a distributor of PTE. They are going to build it w/ the T4 4in front cover. The only thing i'm disappointed in, is the fact i can't get a divided T4 flange on the rear. I am going with the 1.09 rear though. Also it will have the full dual BB cartridge..mmmmm

You might wanna rethink your strategy here. Look at the GT40R kit from Sean at A-Spec or the T04Z from HKS. Either way, those turbos will give you all the rwhp that you want and you will have plenty of room to expand. Just my opinion though.

but isn't the gt40 going to be too big of an application? Does anyone know what the Airflow in lbs/min is for the RE Cosmo or the 3rd gen?

Are you running stock ports on the RE? A nice streetport would have no problems spooling a GT40R. The exhaust ports on the RE are a good bit bigger than those of the regular USDM 13BT. Get with NOTA944. He is running that engine with a BDC half bridge port. He's running a 60-1 HiFi and he's more than ready to upgrade to something bigger.

As of right now, Its a factory port but i have plans to go to a street port later down the road. Would you still recommend the 40R? And i'm assumming with something that big, i'd go with the smaller A/R? say a .8* or .7*?

I'm not quite sure what he is going to build for you 35/40's-35R's come with a 4" inlet he doesn't need to build that they also come with full BB center section. To me it sounds like they are trying to say they are making you something special when they are just pulling it off the shelf.

35R
compressor
4" inlet
82mm wheel
56 trim
70A/R

Turbine
-Wheel: 68mm w/ 84 trim
-Housing: .82 ar, 1.06 ar

The 40R is not going to be too big depending on your porting. It's going to be real nice with some room to grow like Zach said.

Thanks for the backup Sean. Are you guys still working on your BB T04R or no? I can't seem to access your website. I'm guessing it's down for upgrades.?.

Again thanks for the good info. Can you give me an idea for a good spool up time on stock RE ports? And what A/R would be a good one for this. Remember its going to be a stock port with a possible street port in the end.
The shops owner is mainly a DSM/ supra guy so bear with me.

I've got a GT3540 sitting at home (0.7 comp,1.05 Turbine) direct from Garrett, and I know that it is a very capable BB turbo, that will work very well on a stock/mild 13B. Anything smaller would be too restrictive on the exhaust side.

My mate at Garrett had a 13B with the same turbo on it, and made 380rwhp. For a street application it would be perfect. Mine is actually a internal wastegate version, and I'm looking for a very streetable Gen 1.

I think in your case a GT3540 would be ideal.

If your gonna stick with stock porting a 35R is a great choice, you will see right around 400whp at reasonable boost levels. Great response also 15psi by 3400rpm. This turbo will give you some room to grow but at the expense of needing to run high boost levels. Figure the 40R wont be too far off this on spool but give you more room to grow should you decide to go nutz a later. If it is a street car mainly the 35R is more than enough for practical use.

I took your advice, but am going with the straitght GT40 no BB. As of right now its all i can afford. I quit my job and am at school right now. I have plans for a good street port later on, so i figure with your advice I'll be able to spool decently. Thanks again guys!! I really appretiate all your time.
