GT turbo's jet sound?!

I was always curious. The GT35,40,42.etc sound like jets when they spool. Is that because of the BB versions? Or do the Non-R's sound the same?

Its the anti surge housing. My 40r does it even at low boost .

My R85 does it, too, and it also has an anti-surge housing.

the distinct whine is mostly caused from the anti surge housing. If you've ever heard a t51R kai spool up you would be amazed at how loud it gets. really an awesome sound!

i agree the T51 spools like a Boeing, i have a bridgeport with a 4" exhaust from the turbo back, and you can still hear it screaming...it even sounds neat on shut-down.

haha yea you can hear the turbo spinning down for awhile after the car has been shut off. On my wrx which has a GT3040 i can hear the turbo spinning for a good 30 seconds after the engine is off

Cool stuff! Sounds great! How is the GT40R btw? I wanted one for a while, but availability was a pain. I settled on a GT35R simply because they were easier to get, still made fantastic horsepower from what i've seen, spool up amazingly quick, and will handle a fair whack of boost! I couldn't complain with the AUD$1650 (US$1288) price tag (including delivery to my door) either!

It's from ATP but i bought it through a reseller. Seems like a decent deal

Its a nice turbo, I am actually selling my kit. $3300 plus shipping. Less then 300 miles on it. My goals have changed for the car, might as well go overboard Its a bad *** street turbo as you can see in the video even shifting out of boost it spools up FAST.
