greddy t78 power?

I just bought a red '95 with a greddy t78 set-up. Has a Apexi pc. Any ideas about what kind of power this car makes? It looks like it was a 1/4 mile car. I plan to go to the dyno after doing some minor fixes and tune it then. It has a 8lbs spring and is boosting to 14 now on the Greddy controller. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

If you search through this part of the forum you will see that most T78s make around 400-440 at 15 psi. With lots more room to grow in the higher PSi range.

Just make sure its tuned.

i saw one make 350 whp @ 10 psi, but it was too lean (afr in the 12's). ended up being 330 @ 10 psi and 430 @ 16 psi.

depending on whether your motor is ported or not, and how well it is tuned you are prolly somewhere in the 370-400 range. Most people make between 380-420 right at 15 psi. Of course, some people make more....

Thanks for all the positive feedback and info. This car cannot be making that much HP. I will get dynoed soon and hope to see that much HP. I am in the process of building/paying/for a 20b third gen and this car is my learning curve driver. I have to say that it is a blast to drive but I hope to see bigger gains in the 20b. If I do not hit 500 whp I will be unhappy. Thanks again.

I thought at 10 psi your a/f should be at around 12's right? Here is the A/F taget for boost

0 psi= ~13.0:1
0-5psi= 13.0-12.7
5-10psi= 12.7-12.5
10-13psi= 12.5- 12.0
13-15psi= 12.0-11.5
15-17psi= 11.5-11.0

You wouldn't want much over 16psi without race fuel.

Right now I'm on a 8lbs spring and with boost controller on it's at 16. I'm keeping it off until the car is dyno tuned. I'd like to run around 10 to 12 and see mid 300's. Going to go to a NASA lapping day at Moroso on 5/20 and see what kinda times it can turn.

Well...the dyno read 296.6 on the 8lbs.spring. We played with the fuel mixture w/o much change in hp. The the Apexi, dyno and tach all had a different reading on the revs. So we just went for a baseline setting. Going to Moroso in the morning for a lapping day and plan to install the tricked-out intake JR has made for the car this week. If Iwe don't see at least 10 to 12 percent increase on the dyno we'll just quit!!!

I went to Moroso today and lost my brakes at 140mph going into turn 2. What a shitty feeling!!!! I came to a rest with the rear wheels on the top of a tire wall and the nose buried in the sand. Shut the car off and started cussing my *** off for the damage I was getting ready to see. Waved to the corner worker as I was getting out ( on the top of a tire stack 5 tall!! Noticed no damage on the driver side...slight upward lift on the front bumper skin.....walked around and saw a $400 "paintless dent removal" on the 1/4 panel and a ton of rubber transfer on the rear bumper. Wholly ****!!! A fork lift picked up the front-end from the side right on the engine subframe until it was level and the flat tow slid the bed right under it to the rear tires. Fired it up at the paddock and was able to DRIVE IT HOME!!! Did not even screw up my alignment. All I need to do now is get the 5lbs of sand outta the interior and all the tire rubber off the door, 1/4 and rear bumper.

At Moroso I turned a 1:42 on street tires and was shocked to have a Caddy cts-v on my *** the entire time!. The guy could drive into turn two with me at around 140 and brake just as late! Gotta love those Brembo 6 pots. The guy had a light flywheel, chip and exhaust...the rest was stock. He even had a baby seat in the back. I guess Pilgrim and GM have it going. We'll see what we can do with the new intake tricks soon.
