Silver93TT, your numbers are great news. I was afraid from all the talk that 400 HP would be an absolute limit for this turbo and porting wouldn't help. I was thinking that the turbine would become a choke point even with big porting. Especially after seeing how small the turbine inlet is. I think I'll be going with this one for sure now.

Tyson this will easily do the 400hp mark and there are 7's doing alot more than 400. Give us a call we can answer any Q's you may have.
Also for all you FC guys it's available for you guys as well.

Oh, i got to see the manifold glow bright red for the first time during the tuning session. Pretty cool and also kind of scary...i knew rotaries put out a lot of heat but not that much.

Yes, the smaller a/r's significantly limit power potential. I don't see why someone would go with anything but the biggest on a dual ball bearing turbo that spools this fast.

no 850's arent going to be enough. I've hit 90-92% duty cycle with my stock 550 and 1600cc combo on a cool night. Usually the duty is in the mid 80's. I think I'll need even more fuel for higher boost.

Is your fuel pressure dropping? According to RP's fuel calculator your injectors should be good for a bit more power, but maybe your pump can't keep up. Although, I don't think the computer can compensate automatically for dropping fuel pressure under WOT. Maybe with a bit more fuel pressure you can re-tune and get a lower duty cycle.

I'm not sure what the fuel pressure is set at. Dave set it. I need to get a guage for the regulator so I can monitor it. I'm running the cosmo pump for now, and from some very reputable sources it is good up to 20 psi.
I only saw the 90% on the peak hold. Perhaps I had a boost spike and thats when the duty shot up. I will have to do some more monitoring.

Silver,
A higher flow/pressure pump in combination with aftermarket fuel regulator and a higher base pressure should give you the flow you need, correct? Perhaps something that's greater than 1:1. Or...drop in 850cc primaries. I know EVERYONE seems to think they don't work, but I had NO problems when I ran four 850's and will probably just go that route with my 1300cc secondaries. Swapping out for a different ratio fpr will of course necessitate a retune :-)

It'll idle rich, but you should be able to lean it out. I haven't messed with mine yet, so I do run rich at idle. The setting field on the PFC worked some, my duty cycle dropped from 4.4 to 3.8, but I still need to tune out some more fuel at idle.

rx7tt95/tyson - did you have to do anything other than a double o-ring using the 550cc injector rings to make your 850's fit properly?

I didn't do anything. I got 850's from RP and dropped them in. I was very careful to make sure they went down in the socket as well as I could and that's it. It has sat as long as a week since I've done it and never flooded, so I guess fuel is not leaking past the o-ring.

Where can you get it?
Do they sell it at the RX-7 store.

I simply dropped mine right in and like Tyson, I was VERY careful when doing it. Mind you I'm still fully sequential so you can imagine what a PITA it is to swap out the primary injectors! Initially, the as-delivered tuning from SR was very rich at idle (but PERFECT at WOT and I'll post the dyno graph with a/f ratio to prove it and at low speed, high load situations the car would buck and sputter. Not fun. Since I was a venerable PFC newbie at the time, I was petrified of making any changes. But enough was enough and I pulled fuel out of the idle "cells". It had been in the 121 region and I went down to the 102 region. Perfect idle, no more driveability issues either! It was just as good as running the 550's in the primary slots.

Oh that dyno is with the main cat in place. I sent my PFC to Ray in Cali (I'm in Florida) and told him my mods and what boost level I was planning to run. I got back spot-on tuning. I was very pleased. So the 850's can work very well with the PFC (and I'm sure other stand-alone computers). I think I just used the 550 inj. O-rings...can't remember if I double 0-ringed it or not. Too long ago! I'm pretty sure I used the 550 rings as I had only one new set :-) That's the important thing, to use brand spanking new 0-rings on the injectors. Also, use a bit of synthetic on the rings so they'll slide right in. The synth will also protect the rings from damage upon insertion into the fuel rail.
