poweraxle, if you were going to go to the drag strip and you could have any turbo that youve tested, what would you want to take. Considering at about 23 psi. ill trust you cause you have had just about every turbo out there. Thanks Marc

Those injectors should be more than sufficient, unless you are running some form of alcohol.

20 psi is kinda high for 550 and 1300, i had 550 and 1200 and 17psi put me at like 95% inj duty, i've since switched the primaries to the old secondaries (850's)

for drag racing and about 23 psi ...the T-78 and the T66 are tough to beat

hey but if you could spool up a T51R with anti-lag or nitrous..then it'll be all good

good luck!

OK, here's the bad news. Spent Friday @ KD. The best run was 273 HP & 240 ft. lbs. Dave said all the "lambdas" were great, whatever that means. That run was at 14psi. Dave thinks the stock cat is restricting airflow, so I am replacing next week, BUT, I can't imagine that is going to make a 100 HP difference. Mods include PFS IC & catback, 1200 cc secondaries and fuel pump upgrade, PFC w/Commander, ProfecB, brand new reman w/street port

Alright, I thought I knew this but i'm wanting some knowledge.

19 PSI = 19PSI, right? Regardless of the turbo? I know that lag will change, so the hp/trq curves will change, but the maximum HP should, in theory, remain the same, right?

Nope, because with 19 psi on a larger turbocharger, you will be flowing a lot more CFM of air than 19 psi on a smaller turbocharger.

If I had only known about the GT 35/40 earlier? When did it come out? I bought my Rx-6 last fall and I might have gone to the GT 35/40 after hearing all this,
and then going for a ride in silver93tt's car...DAMN THAT'S A FAST BITCH at only 10psi..he's gonna smoke me after he turns up the boost. What to do??hummm

Rallimike, I was at KDR when your car was getting the turbo installed - white FD right ? I looked at your turbo. It looked different from my GT3540 - your turbine side looked a bit smaller than mine - maybe a different size?

Yes, I went with the smaller .82 (?) to improve spool up . A-Spec told me it would limit the upside at high psi, but was still good for 600 hp. I don't think that is the problem. You obviously have a lot more fuel available, but, if my ratios are OK at 14 psi, I don't understand why that should matter. Any ideas, other than the Cat? What rpm did you peak at?

why would you need improvement on the spool of a dual BB turbo? i get full 14lbs at 3100rpms in 4th gear WOT. .82 for a turbine side seems really small. most people run 1.00 A/R or 1.15 A/R turbine sides on traditional TO4 turbos.

looking at my dyno sheets, i peaked at about 6800rpms. where did you peak at?

I was told I'd still get the 'magical' 400 rwhp at 15psi; the problem would be if I decided I wanted more. I want to do road course stuff, and thought any throttle response would be helpful. I peaked at 6500, where Dave cut off the run.

the GT3540 is pretty much a prototype turbo. there are only a few people that have run the turbo, including myself. i dont know if Aspec has tested the turbo with differing turbine A/R's so i dont know if the 400rwhp @ 15psi stands with all of them. i myself have a 1.06 hotside.

try pulling your cat and install a midpipe.

Doing that next week, but going to a high flow muffler. Also, Dave had to rig up a very convoluted pipe to connect the turbo to my SMIC, since A-spec doesn't provide any. He's going to straighten and shorten that pipe, which should help some. I'll be going to Maple Grove after those changes...we'll see.

370 at 14psi doesn't sound like much of an "improvement" over say an IHI RX6. There's an FD owner in Tampa who runs a To4S with a .89(?) a/r and is making 360rwhp @ 10psi (or so he says). With the Garrett supposedly being a much more efficient design, I'd think that it would produce a bit more than 370 at 14psi. It could be the porting/tuning or it could be that the 35/40 starts to wake up at 15psi? Anyone think a 3037 would be a better choice for a low-boost (20psi and below) FD? FourtyOunce, can you scan in or at least plot by rpm, your hp and torque?

370rwhp @ 14lbs on a stock port motor. also, a TO4S with a .89 will spool and make power early in the power band and slowly wean off at top end from what i understand. does your friend have a ported motor?

Yes, it's a ported motor (I believe). It's Sergio Perez, killr13b is his forum name...He does quite a bit of roadracing which is why boost is limited to 10psi. He has no overheating problems that I know of and I also believe his intake is ported? I'll contact him and get more info on his setup. I know he's using the PMS box to control things as well. Seems to really work for him.

Guess I read the port thing wrong..that makes a bit more sense. I know most RX6 guys, running stock ports, have problems hitting 360 at 15psi. Out of curiosity, how much rwhp are you producing at 3000rpm? Over 100?
