Going single @ what price?

Well I just recieved a phone call from the performance shop where they where supposed to be fixing a coule minor things. Well today I get a call in it has a whole lot of leaks,(coolant leak, tranmission leak, oil pan leak and the turbo's are leaking. He gave me an estiamte of 2K plus, this is just for the trans, oil and coolant leak, I'm going to have to buy new turbos. So I'm thinking how much money did you guys spend to go single, SHT If I'm going to buy new turbo's I my does well do the whole single conversion. So how can U guys give me some feedback on how much u guys spent or an estimate. I know it ain't cheap but help me out guys.

Plan to spend 6-10k on the mods depending on what you already have, plus labor. It's not cheap. There is a thread about this in this section that was started since this is a common question.

Being in Cali, you also have to consider the fact that you will be not even close to passing smog with a single setup. With the twins, you can pass the visuals much easier....

if you count everything on paper and it comes out to say $7000,by the time you do it it will magicaly grow another $2000 at least.

When I first got my car a mazda Stealership did the same thing to me. They told me like 8k in stuff and that I needed to have the turbos replaced. For one I did not even get them replaced for 2 years and 2 I could have just had them rebuilt for $800 or bought a used set for under $300. Just be careful

Also, if you are trying to get top-of-the-line everything that figure will jump another couple grand. From my experience, if you go the route of custom fabbing stuff (eg.pipes...etc.) with good quality metal, it can still be more expensive than the kit stuff (unless you're a welder by trade!). The thing I stress the most is that you get a COMPLETE quote (parts and labour) before you start, so the costs don't bite you in the *** at the end. Good luck!

definately plan on spending around 10k plus on your turbo conversion. It always costs more then people anticipate due to the fact that their are sooo many little things that need to be replaced. gaskets, couplers, coupler rings, bolts, nuts, hoses, and just about every other hidden thing.
